Pierre Zimmermann nasce a Losanna da madre francese il 26 maggio del 1955 in una famiglia numerosa con mezzi modesti, frequenta il Ginnasio ed il Politecnico a Losanna e diviene controllore di gestione prima presso l'IBM e poi presso la Hill & Knowlton.
Nel 1993 si lancia nella costituzione della Régie Zimmermann AG una società immobiliare con sede a Ginevra di cui è unico azionista e che ha fatto la sua fortuna.
La Società, che conta una quarantina di impiegati, opera nelle aree di Ginevra e di Losanna ed è specializzata nell'acquisto di fabbricati fatiscenti, nella loro restaurazione e nella successiva vendita.
Sposato due volte e padre di 5 figli, divide il suo tempo tra la gestione della sua azienda e la pratica del bridge, uno sport che lo appassiona da quando lo ha incontrato durante la sua permanenza al Politecnico di Losanna.
Dopo aver co-fondato in gioventù un piccolo circolo di bridge, scopre l'agonismo per merito di Pierre Saporta e successivamente incontra i migliori giocatori francesi e diviene lo sponsor di diverse squadre che includono alcuni dei più forti giocatori del mondo e che colgono molti importanti successi internazionali.
Nel suo palmares che gli ha valso il titolo di World Grand Master, figurano tra l'altro: l'argento nella NEC Cup del 2010, il Biarritz a Coppie Open del 2001, i due Transnational consecutivi nel 2007e 2009, il Roberts Teams (ex Cavendish) del 2010 e del 2012, il Misto Europeo Transnazionale a Squadre, 2 Spingold Cup (2011 e 2012) e la Reisinger del 2012 e del 2013.

Ha vissuto per 15 anni a Ginevra con la seconda moglie Christine, una francese che è una valente pittrice e scultrice
Oggi è in relazione con la forte bridgista russa Tania Dikhnova "Tennet" che è nata a San Pietroburgo e oggi vive a Mosca dove dirige la Scuola Bridge di un club locale.
Tania ha vinto l'oro nello Squadre Miste e nello Squadre Femminili e l'argento nel Coppie Miste agli Europei Open del 2019 dopo aver guadagnato il bronzo nel 2017 ed un altro bronzo ai World Bridge Series nella Mc Connell Cup del 2018. Tania è anche campionessa italiana a squadre miste.
Pierre, dopo aver contratto un accordo pluriennale con la Federazione Monegasca, ha riunito a Monaco una squadra fortissima composta dal suo attuale partner, il francese Frank Multon, dagli italiani Fantoni - Nunes e dai norvegesi Helgemo - Helness che, a partire dal 2012, dopo averne preso la residenza, hanno iniziato a difendere i colori del Principato vincendo subito il Campionato Europeo a Squadre Open e conquistando il bronzo nell'Olimpiade di Lille. L'anno successivo ha vinto la Reisinger Cup, ha guadagnato l'argento nella Bermuda Bowl e l'oro nei World Mind Games (seguito dal bronzo del 2014). Ultimo prestigioso successo, l'argento ai Campionati Europei a Squadre del 2014 seguito nel 2015 dai Campionati Nazionali Francesi e dal Transnational Open Teams che anche capitanava.
Nel 2016, a causa della squalifica internazionale che ha colpito la coppia italiana, sono entrati nella sua squadra altri campioni che hanno continuato vincendo i primi Campionati Invernali Europei (che si realizzano anche grazie alla sua sponsorizzazione), la Champion Cup e l'argento nelle Olimpiadi.
Nel 2017 ha guadagnato il bronzo nello Squadre Miste agli Europei Open.
Nel 2018 ha vinto la Spingold e la Rosenblum.
Nel 2019 l'accordo con la federazione monegasca è stato sciolto di comune accordo.
Tornato a giocare per la federazione elvetica, nel 2020 ha vinto la Reisinger e lo FMB Trophy e la Zimmermann Cup, mentre, nel 2022 ha vinto la Bermuda Bowl ed ha guadagnato il bronzo nella Rand Cup e l'argento nel Coppie Senior dei World Bridge Senior.
Nel 2023 ha bissato la vittoria nella Bermuda Bowl.
Pierre che ha anche promosso la creazione di un Cavendish europeo da tenersi nel Principato, gioca a golf per puro diletto e ama la musica classica ed operistica.
Pierre Zimmermann was born in Lausanne from a French mother on May 26, 1955 in a large
family with modest means, attended the Gymnasium and the Polytechnic in Lausanne
and became a management controller first at IBM and then at Hill & Knowlton.
In 1993, a real estate company based in Geneva, which is the sole shareholder and which made its fortune, was launched in the constitution of Régie Zimmermann AG.
The Company, which has a 40 employees, operates mainly in the areas of Geneva and Lausanne and specializes in the purchase of dilapidated buildings, in their restoration and subsequent sale.
Twice married and father of 5 children, he divides his time between managing his company and the practice of bridge, a sport that fascinates him since he met him during his stay at the Polytechnic of Lausanne.
After having co-founded a small bridge club in his youth, he discovers the agonism thanks to Pierre Saporta and then meets the best French players and becomes the sponsor of several teams that include some of the strongest players in the world and who capture many important international successes.

She lived for 15 years in Geneva with her second wife Christine, a Frenchwoman who is a talented painter and sculptor.
Today he is related to the strong Russian bridge player Tania Dikhnova "Tennet" who was born in St. Petersburg and now lives in Moscow where she runs the Bridge School of a local club.
Tania at the 2019 European Open won the gold medal in Mixed Teams and Women Teams and the silver medal in Mixed Pairs after having won the bronze in 2017 and another bronze at the World Bridge Series in the Mc Connell Cup in 2018. Tania is also Italian mixed-teams champion.
After having signed a multi-year agreement with the Monegasque Federation, Pierre gathered in Monaco a very strong team composed of his current partner, the Frenchman Frank Multon, the Italians Fantoni - Nunes and the Norwegians Helgemo - Helness who, starting from 2012, after taking the residence, they began to defend the Principality's colors by winning the European Open Teams Championships and winning the bronze in the Lille Olympics. The following year he won the Reisinger Cup, earned silver in the Bermuda Bowl and gold in the World Mind Games (followed by the bronze of 2014).
Last prestigious success, the silver at the 2014 European Teams Championships followed in 2015 by the French National Championships and the Transnational Open Teams that also captained.
In 2016, because of the international disqualification that has struck the Italian pair, other champions have entered his team that have continued to win the first European Winter Championships that are also realized thanks to his sponsorship, the Champion Cup and the silver in the Olympics.
In 2017 he won the bronze in Mixed Teams at the European Open.
In 2018 he won the Spingold and Rosenblum.
In 2019 the agreement with the Monegasque federation was terminated by mutual agreement.
Come back under Switzerland color, Pierre in 2020 won the FMB Trophy and the Zimmermann Cup, while, in 2022 he won the Reisinger, the Bermuda Bowl and in World Bridge Series he earned the bronze in Rand Cup and the silver in Senior Pair.
In 2023 he repeated his success in the Bermuda Bowl.
Pierre that has also promoted the creation of a European Cavendish to be held in the Principality, plays golf for pure pleasure and loves classical and operatic music.
