Romano, nato nel
1947, sposato con
Cristiana Morgantini (anche lei ottima giocatrice), professionista di bridge, ha militato a lungo sia nel Team Angelini
che in quello Lavazza
e da poco fa parte di quello
Zaleski. È l'unico, tra le colonne portanti di queste fortissime squadre, ad aver
fatto parte in alcune occasioni anche del favoloso
Vecchio Blue
Team.
Sul piano nazionale ha
vinto tra l'altro: 15 titoli Open a Squadre
(1982, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008,
2009 e 2011) e 13
Coppe Italia (1974, 1980, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2004,
2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).
Sul piano internazionale
Lorenzo è attualmente il più forte giocatore europeo ed uno dei più forti
al mondo, ha vinto le Olimpiadi
nel 2000, nel 2004 e nel 2008, la Bermuda
Bowl nel 2005 competizione nella quale è anche arrivato 4 volte sulla
piazza d'onore (1979, 1983, 2003 e 2009) ed una volta terzo (2011), 8 volte i Campionati Europei
nel 1979, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010 e un'infinità di altri titoli prestigiosi, tra i quali ricordiamo: la
Spingold (2001 e 2002), il Forbo
International Teams (1997, 2001, 2002), il Cavendish
Team (1996, 1997), la Reisinger (2000,
2007, 2010 e 2011),
l'IOC Grand Prix
(1999, 2002), la Vanderbilt (1999, 2004,
il Forbo Nation Cup (1996,
1997, 2002), la Rosenblum
(1998 e 2002), la Champion Cup

Sembrava impresa impossibile
per chiunque rinverdire i trascorsi fasti del mitico Blue Team, ma
Lauria e gli altri alfieri azzurri pare proprio che ci stiano riuscendo.
La superiorità assoluta su scala
mondiale del Nuovo Blue Team è a volte addirittura disarmante se si considera che oggi l'agone è ben più nutrito di quanto non lo fosse negli
anni nei quali il Vecchio Blue Team soleva spadroneggiare.
Lorenzo a fine 2004 e, dopo un lungo inseguimento durato oltre vent'anni, ha sorpassato i mostri sacri del bridge statunitense e
si è insediato per qualche tempo al primo posto nella
classifica dei World Grand Master
edita dalla WBF alternandosi poi con altri suoi compagni di Squadra, di
lui più giovani.
Con l'8º titolo Europeo conquistato nel 2010 è a 2 sole lunghezze dal
record del mitico Giorgione che
sembrava davvero inattaccabile ed ha superato un altro azzurro,
Dano De Falco come longevità sportiva, 31
anni dal suo primo titolo contro i 28 di Dano.

superiority

the new
Blue
Team
is
disarming

sometimes even when
you consider that
today's
agony is
far
more
large
than
it
was
in the year
in
which
the
Old Blue
Team
used
to rule
the roost.
Laurence
at
the
end of 2004
and,
after a
long
chase
that
lasted more
than two
decades,
has
surpassed
the
U.S.
giants
of
the bridge and
settled for
some time
in
the
first place
in the
World
Grand
Master
WBF
published
by
leaving,
then
such
an honor to
others
his
teammates,
he's

Lorenzo Lauria (1946) est un joueur de bridge,
Marchant sur les traces de Giorgio Belladonna, le regretté numéro un
mondial au jeu de bridge, Lorenzo Lauria vient de faire vibrer le cœur
des tifosi pendant les championnats du monde en novembre 2004.
Quelques mois auparavant, il avait aidé l'Italie à gagner pour la
sixième fois consécutive le principal titre européen. Certes, Belladonna
en avait gagné dix en tout, mais pas consécutivement. Mais qu'allait
faire Lorenzo lors des Olympiades de bridge cette même année ?
Il
était accompagné dans l'équipe italienne de Norberto Bocchi, Giorgio
Duboin, Fulvio Fantoni, Claudio Nunes et de Alfredo Versace, son
partenaire depuis dix ans. Lauria vient de monter à la première place du
classement mondial WBF après avoir remporté un nouveau titre mondial la
même année que deux titres européens.
