Nato nel 1975 a Taby una cittadina pochi chilometri a nord di Stoccolma, dove vive con la moglie Kathrine, anche lei valente giocatrice, e con due figli: Nora e Markus.
Peter è un insegnate di bridge ed un professionista che fa parte della emergente categoria dei campioni svedesi.
Nonostante la giovane età è già un World Life Master e nel suo palmares internazionale figurano: l'argento nella Champion Cup del 2003, l'argento nell'Europeo Open a Squadre del 2004 e, sul circuito americano, il Mitchell del 2004 ed il Jacoby del 2003.
Peter è anche un professionista del poker sportivo.
Katherine Stensrud, che è coetanea del marito ed è nata a Stoccolma, si è messa in luce nello Junior Camp del 1999 per poi, una volta passata professionista, vincere gli Europei di Categoria del 2004 dopo aver guadagnato un argento nell'Europeo Transnazionale Misto del 2003.
L'ultimo suo successo è il bronzo conquistato nella Mc Connell del 2006.
