Maria Grönkvist è nata nel 1967 a Örebro una città della Svezia situata circa 200 Km a Ovest di Stoccolma che conta oltre 100.000 abitanti. Capoluogo dell'omonima contea, la città sta diventando una buona fucina bridgistica.
Maria, che lavora presso la Stena Recycling, è una nota campionessa svedese ed è anche un appassionata golfista. World Women International Master, ha guadagnato il suo primo alloro internazionale vincendo il bronzo agli Europei a Squadre Transnazionali del 2003; l'anno successivo, ha vinto i Campionati Europei a Squadre Femminili, dove nel 2018 si è presa la soddisfazione di vincere l'argento in squadra con la figlia Ida.
Suo marito Johan Grönkvist è nato l'11 luglio del 1970 a Vingaker, ha studiato presso l'Università di Örebro e lavora presso la Onninen AB. Anche lui è un valente giocatore svedese.
I loro due figli Ida e Mikael, nati entrambi a Örebro, seguono le orme dei genitori.
Ida Grönkvist è nata il 13 gennaio del 1995, ha studiato presso il ginnasio Risbegska di Örebro e si è laureata in legge a Stoccolma, oltre lo svedese parla anche l'inglese e il francese, lavora presso il tribunale di Stoccolma ed è considerata una delle migliori promesse del bridge giovanile svedese.
Oltre al bridge che ha imparato all'età di 11 anni, ama cantare e suonare il piano.
Nella sua breve carriera ha già conquistato l'argento nella Categoria Under 18 agli Europei del 2008 giocando in coppia con il fratello ed il bronzo nella categoria Youngsters tre anni più tardi.
Nel 2014 ha guadagnato l'oro nei Campionati Mondiali Giovanili a Squadre ed il premio Joan Gerard, nel 2015 l'argento nella stessa Categoria in quelli Europei più la vittoria nello Sternberg divenendo una World Women Life Master.
In coppia con il fratello Mikael ha vinto l'oro agli Europei a Squadre Under 26 e nel 2017 ha conquistato il bronzo nella Venice Cup e l'oro negli Elite Mind Games. Nel 2018 è arrivato l'argento negli Europei Femminili per nazioni e l'oro nel Mondiale Juniores, nel 2019 l'oro negli Europei Juniores.
Oggi è una World Women Grand Master che ha coronato i suoi sogni vincendo la Venice Cup nel 2019.
Mikael Grönkvist è nato il 4 marzo del 1993 e si è diplomato alla Rudbecks. Ha poi studiato presso l'Università di Örebro ed oggi vive a Stoccolma dove frequenta il locale Politecnico e lavora presso la Scuola Bridge Nya. Per un certo tempo ha colto i suoi migliori risultati giocando in coppia con la sorella.
World Master,nel 2013 ha vinto l'oro nella categoria Youngsters ai Campionati Europei a Squadre Juniores e due anni più tardi ha bissato il successo nella Categoria Juniores. Nel 2016 ha ricevuto il premio Joan Gerard e nel 2018 ha conquistato l'oro ai Mondiali Juniores a Squadre.
Ida & Mikael, giocando in coppia, hanno vinto nel 2019 i primi Campionati Europei a Squadre Miste.

Maria Grönkvist was

Maria, who works at the "Stena Recycling", is a well known Swedish champion and is also a passionate golfer. World Women International Master, she has earned her first international title by winning the bronze medal at the European Transnational Teams in 2003, following next year by the gold in Europeans Women Championships Teams where in 2018 she have the pleasure to win the silver medal teamed her daughter Ida.
Her husband Johan Grönkvist, was born in 1970 in Vingaker, graduate at University of Orebro, works at Onninen AB and also him is a talented Swedish player.
Their two children, Ida and Mikael, were both born in the same Örebro, are following the footsteps of their parents.
Ida Grönkvist Ida Grönkvist was born on January 13, 1995, studied at the Risbegska gymnasium in Örebro and graduated in law in Stockholm, besides Swedish she also speaks English and French, works at the Stockholm court and is considered one of the best promises of Swedish youth bridge.
In addition to the bridge she learned at the age of 11, she loves singing and playing the piano.
In her short career he has already won silver in the Under 18 category at the 2008 European Championships playing alongside her brother and bronze in the Youngsters category three years later.
In 2014 she earned gold in the World Youth Team Championships and the Joan Gerard award, in 2015 the silver in the same category in the European ones plus the victory in Sternberg becoming a World Women Life Master.
Paired with her brother Mikael she won gold at the Under 26 European Teams and in 2017, she won bronze in the Venice Cup and gold in the Elite Mind Games. In 2018 silver arrived in the Women's European Championships by nations and gold in the Junior World Cup, in 2019 gold in the Junior Europeans.
Today she is a World Women Grand Master who fulfilled her dreams by winning the Venice Cup in 2019.
Mikael Grönkvist was born on March 4, 1993 and graduated from the Rudbecks. He then studied at the University of Örebro, and now lives in Stockholm where he attended the local Polytechnic and works at the School Bridge Nya. For a time he caught his best results in couple playing with his sister (see above).
World Master, in 2013 he won gold in the category Youngsters at the European Teams Championships and in 2015 same metal in Junior's Category becoming, In 2016 he received the Joan Gerard award and in 2018 he won the World Junior's Teams.
Ida & Mikael paired, in 2019 win first European Mixed Teams Championships.
