Aloysius Wilhelmus Martinus "Louk" Verhees è nato il 2 settembre del 1964 a Katwijk una cittadina costiera poco lontana dall'Aja e vive a Voorhout un paese situato a 40Km a SO di Amsterdam.

 Sposato con con due figlie è un software engineer che lavora come consulente di informatica, anche se da qualche tempo la sua principale attività sembra essere diventata il bridge.

 Louk, che è anche stato un tennista a livello professionale, ha imparato a giocare a Bridge con i suoi genitori quando aveva 10 anni. Suo padre Loek Verhees (Katwijk 1 luglio 1937 - Aerdenhout 20 ottobre 2014) ha fatto più volte parte della nazionale olandese ed ha vinto la medaglia di bronzo ai Campionati Europei per Squadre Senior nel 1997.

 Oltre ad alcuni titoli nazionali, Louk ha vinto il bronzo nel 2001 al Forbo Nation Cup, l'argento nel 2002 al Forbo International Teams, l'argento dietro lo squadrone azzurro alle Olimpiadi di Istanbul del 2004 e, infine, l'oro agli Europei a Squadre di Tenerife nel 2005 e la vittoria della NEC Cup nel 2011.

 Le sue maggiori affermazioni arrivano però nel 2011 con la vittoria della Bermuda Bowl e nella prima edizione dei World Mind nella Categoria Open Team a cui fa seguito nel 2012 l'argento nei Campionati Europei a Squadre e l'oro nello Squadre ai World Mind Games.

Nel 2019 vince Champions Cup e guadagna l'argento nella Bermuda Bowl bissandolo nel 2022 anno in cui vince anche gli Europei a Squadre Open.

Questi successi gli hanno valso il titolo di World International Master ed uno dei primi posti nella relativa classifica edita dalla World Bridge Federation.

Louk, che continua a praticare il tennis e che è anche il coach della competitiva nazionale femminile dei tulipani, ha poi vinto la Champions Cup del 2018 ed il Jacoby del 2023.

Louk was born in Katwijk 02-09-1964 and studied corporate IT.

Louk is married and has two daughters, they live in Voorhout near Amsterdam.

Besides being a professional bridge player he works as a software engineer.

He learned bridge when he was about 10 years old from his parents. His father Loek (Katwijk July 1, 1937 - Aerdenhout October 20, 2014) has made several times part of the Dutch National and won the bronze medal at the European Senior Teams Championships in 1997.

He have won quite a few tennis tournaments and about 5 Dutch bridge championships and several other tournaments.

Silver in Olympiad Istanbul 2004 (lost to Italy).

He earned a gold medal  in European open championship Tenerife 2005 and in the NEC Cup and, in 2011 in  the Bermuda Bowl and in the inaugural World Mind in Open Team Category.

He follows whit silver medal at 2012 European Open Teams and gold medal at World Mind Games.

In 2019 and 2022 he earned two silver medals in Bermuda Bowl and in 2022 the gold in the European Open Teams.

He still play a lot of tennis as a hobby, he likes good food and he hopes to win more medals (gold) with bridge and he likes meeting other people too. 

His other success is the Champions Cup 2018 and 2019 and the Jacoby in 2023.
