Tim è nato nel 1985 a Voorburg uno dei tre agglomerati che formano la banlieu de L'Aja, vive a Driebergen una cittadina nei pressi di Utrecth ed uno dei talenti emergenti del bridge olandese.

 Ha iniziato a giocare quando aveva 10 anni sotto la guida del papà che lo accompagnava tutti i venerdì al torneo del bridge club locale e verso i 12 anni ha formato un sodalizio con Danny Molenaar.

 Tim che si è laureato nel 2009 in Scienze Politiche nella più antica Università olandese: la Leiden University, ha fatto il suo esordio nella nazionale giovanile del suo Paese nel 1998.

 Nel suo palmares figurano un bronzo conquistato nel 2004 nel Mondiale a Squadre Under 21, un oro nel Mondiale Universitario a Squadre del 2008 e un altro nel Mondiale Juniores a Coppie del 2009.

Nel 2007 ha esordito nella Nazionale maggiore e per il momento ha conquistato i suoi migliori risultati giocando con partner occasionali.

I started playing bridge when I was 10 and my father put me on a fridaynight bridgeclub. So I could sleep the next morning. 

At my 12th I started a partnership with Danny Molenaar. After we played in Lille (Rosenblum 98) we went to the schools training. And from 2000 on we play in the Dutch youth teams with two exceptions:  in 2005 I played with Jacco Hop and in 2007 we were not part of the (golden) team.

Also in Holland it went better and better. 

In 2007 we played for the first time in the highest division. And the last two years we reached the semifinals. First for STAR, but the last year for the White House team.

This year I play for the second team of the White House that is sponsored by Max Abram and Herman Drenkelford together with Bob Drijver and as teammates Hop-de Pagter and Molenaar-Groenenboom.

The strange thing is that I accomplished my greatest victories with unregular partners. Like my win in 2009 World youth congres with Marion Michielsen, or my national pair title with Yke Smit.
