Nato il primo marzo del 1957, ha una laurea in ingegneria e vive a Lublino dove č un affermato uomo d'affari che ama molto viaggiare e sciare.
Michael comincia a giocare a bridge nelle scuole secondarie e si mette in luce vincendo i campionati europei juniores di Montecatini nel 1982.
Sposato con due figlie, ha collezionato numerosi piazzamenti in molti dei principali tornei mondiali e ha formato con Jacek Pszczola una coppia di grande spessore.
Alcune delle sue migliori performance riguardano la vittoria dei Campionati del Mondo a Coppie nel 1998 a Lille, la medaglia d'argento conquistata agli Europei di Montecatini del 1997, alle Olimpiadi del 2000 a Maastricht e allo IOC Grand Prix di Salt Lake City nel 2002, e quella di bronzo alla Rosenblum Cup di Montreal nel 2002.
Nel 2008 ha contribuito a riportare la Warren Buffet Cup al di qua dell'Oceano e nel 2013 č arrivato secondo nella NEC CUP e terzo nella Champion Cup. Nel 2018 arriva un altro argento ai Campionati Europei per Coppie Senior Nazionali e la vittoria nella Rand Cup. Nel 2019 vince il Senior Teams agli Europei Open e nel 2022 coglie un fantastico poker vincendo la D'orsi Cup , il Campionato Europeo per Coppie Senior, il Campionato Europeo per Squadre Senior e la Rand Cup.
Questi risultati gli hanno valso il titolo di World Grand Master e una posizione stabile tra i primi 30 nella classifica dei migliori giocatori in attivitā edita dalla WBF.
Michal Kwicien
was born on the first of March 1957, is an automotive engineer and businessman
from Lublin.
Married with two daughters, he plays for a bridge club in Leszno - Unia Winkhaus.
He learned to play with friends at secondary school and considers the most compelling aspect of bridge to be the moment of victory.
He regards defense as the most difficult part of the game, whilst looking for good play and calmness in the ideal partner.
His hobbies are skiing and travel, and he sees bridge as being an excellent way to pursue both.
Kwiecien's biggest bridge successes include first place in the World Open Pairs Championship at Lille in 1998, second place in the European Open Teams Championship at Montecatini in 1997, third place in the World Transnational Open Teams at Hammamet in 1997, all of them with Jacek Pszczola. He also won gold in the European Junior Teams Championship at Salsomaggiore in 1982 with his former partner Marek Wojcicki.
He has been playing with Jacek Pszczola since 1993, and just before this book went to press the pair finished at the top of a world-class field in the 2001 Cavendish Calcutta in Las Vegas.
He also won silver medal at Olympiad of 2000 and at IOC Grand Prix of 2002, besides, he won a bronze medal in Rosenblum Cup of 2002 and in 2013 he arrived second in NEC CUP and third in Champion Cup.
In 2018 he won the silver in the European Senior Pairs and the gold in Rand Cup.
In 2019 he won the Senior Teams at the European Open and in 2022 a formidable poker with the victories in the D'Orsi Cup, both the European Senior Pairs and the European Senior Teams and the Rand Cup.
