Sally Brock è nata nel 1953 a Wiltshire una cittadina 60Km ad Est di Bristol e dopo due precedenti esperienze matrimoniali con due noti bridgisti quali Tony Sowter e Mark Horton, è rimasta vedova del terzo marito, il campione Raymond Brock che aveva sposato nel 1993.

Sally ha conosciuto il bridge in famiglia ed ha cominciato a giocarlo a 14 anni per poi approfondirlo durante la sua permanenza alla Nottingham University ed oggi vive nella cittadina di High Wycombe, a metà strada tra Londra ed Oxford, e lavora in una casa editrice di sua proprietà che pubblica la notissima rivista "Bridge Plus".
Sally è una World Grand Master della WBF ben piazzata nella classifica delle giocatrici in vita, pur avendo interrotto l'attività agonistica nel 1993 per occuparsi dei due figli avuti da Raymond.
Prima del 1993 Sally, in tandem con la grande Sandra Landy, aveva avuto modo di vincere due Campionati Europei a Squadre (1979 e 1981) dopo aver vinto l'argento nel 1985 ed il bronzo nel 1987, due Venice Cup (1981 e 1985), due Olimpiadi Femminili a Squadre (1982, 1986) che si cumulano all'argento del 1984 ed il bronzo del 1980, nonché due Campionati a Squadre Femminili del MEC (1981 e 1993).
Nel 2000 la Brock ha ripreso a giocare il bridge agonistico e molto presto sono arrivati nuovamente i successi di sempre, in coppia con Margaret Courtney ha vinto l'Europeo a Squadre nel 2001 e l'argento nei mondiali Open del 2005, successi inframmezzati dal bronzo nelle Olimpiadi del 2004 in coppia con Kitty Teltscher e culminati con l'oro alle Olimpiadi di Pechino.
Sally was born
in 1953 in Wiltshire. She started playing bridge with her
parents when she was 14.
It was only social rubber bridge but they were quite keen, and she guess sge played a couple of times a week with them when she was in the sixth form.
Then she went to Nottingham University, joined the bridge club there and subsequently married Tony Sowter.
The bridge flourished and she played in my first Lady Milne, with Sally Eggett, in 1976, heavily pregnant with her son Ben.
She played in her first European Championship in 1979 with Sandra Landy, which they won. And they won again in 1981 and also the Venice Cup that year.
Round about then her marriage broke up and in December 1981 she married Mark Horton.
The British women won the world championship again in 1985.
The Landy/Horton bridge partnership broke up in 1987 and she started playing with Steve Lodge.
They got very close to making the open team but not quite close enough.
In 1991 her marriage again finished and in 1993 she married Raymond Brock.
At that time she gave up any interest in international bridge to have two children, but started playing again in 2000 - in the mixed teams in Maastricht with Jason Hackett.
She won the European Teams Championships in 2001, the silver medal in World Ladies Teams Championships of 2005 and the bronze medal in Olympiad of 2004.
Her favorites pastimes at the moment are going on holiday with the children - when she can give them her undivided attention.
