George Mittelman è nato il 25 maggio del 1947, vive a Regina nel Saskatchewan ed è stato uno dei migliori giocatori del Canada, tanto da meritare l'ammissione nella Hall of Fame del bridge del suo Paese.
World Life Master e Senior Life Master, a livello internazionale ha vinto l'argento nella Bermuda Bowl del 1995, i Campionati Mondiali a Coppie Miste del 1982, la Rand Cup del 2002 e due bronzi nella Rosenblum Cup del 1982 e del 1990 dove perse la finale per un errore di conteggio nello score!
George ha anche vinto sul circuito nord americano il Jacoby del 1995, il Mitchell del 1998 e il Senior Teams del 2006, nel 2000 ha conquistato la International Cup al Whitehouse.
Come capitano non giocatore ha guidato vari teams americani vincendo due bronzi con la squadra femminile canadese alle Olimpiadi del 1998 e nella Venice Cup del 1989.
