Nato nel 1974 a Rotterdam, laureato, sposato con Marsha Agteres, ha due figlie gemelle ed un figlio più piccolo e vive a Doorn, un piccolo villaggio 23 km ad Est di Utrecht.
Simon, che è un consulente di informatica, ha vinto diversi titoli olandesi e in campo internazionale ha iniziato a mettersi in mostra vincendo il bronzo alle Universiadi Europee del 1994, seguito dall'oro in quelle del 1977 e 1999 come giocatore e, in quelle del 2001, come capitano non giocatore, nonché, nel 2000, il Torneo dimostrativo di introduzione del Bridge nel Comitato Olimpico Europeo.
Assieme ad altri diversi piazzamenti in Competizioni internazionali di spicco, nel 2005 e nel 2009 ha vinto gli Europei Open Transazionali a Squadre intramezzati con un bronzo nel 2007, anno in cui ha preso lo stesso metallo nella più prestigiosa Bermuda Bowl.
Nel 2010 ha vinto la prima Champion Cup dell'Olanda e nel 2011 la seconda Bermuda Bowl seguita dalla piazza d'onore nella Champion Cup e la vittoria nella prima edizione dei World Mind nella Categoria Open Team.
Simon de Wijs is a
software consultant and lives in Doorn, a small village in the middle of the
country.
He is married to Marsha Agteres and they have two daughters (Sarah and Lotte, a twin) and a son Job.
His free time, which is not much having three young children, Simon likes to spend playing poker or reading.
Simon won the European open teams in 2005, got a bronze medal in 2007 and has three Dutch team titles. Shanghai will be his second Bermuda Bowl.
In 2010 he won the first Dutch Champion Cup and in 2011 the second Dutch Bermuda Bowl. That same year, takes second place in the Champion's Cup and won the inaugural World Mind in Open Team Category.
