Fernando Piedra è nato a Montevideo il 24 novembre del 1970 ma da molti anni vive in Svizzera facendo il professionista di bridge.
Si è diplomato al Liceo Pedro Variela della sua città natia ed oggi vive a Zurigo con la sua compagna, la nota bridgista Irene Saesseli .
Nazionale svizzero fin dal 1997 ha colto il suo miglior risultato internazionale vincendo la Bermuda Bowl del 2022 e la Reisinger.
Nel 2017 ha anche vinto il trofeo Maria Erhart che premia il miglior partecipante e che è offerto dal 2012 dal marito di Maria, Peter. Il torneo è un'imperdibile classica del circuito elvetico che ha visto la sua prima edizione nel 1941 per volontà del conte Gianfranco Fabbricotti-Roosvelt e che è arrivato alla sua 70ª edizione.
Nel 2023 ha capitanato da non giocatore la squadra elvetica campione del mondo, mentre, nel 2024 ha vinto gli Europei Invernali Transnazionali.
Fernando Piedra was born in Montevideo on November 24, 1970
but has lived for many years in Switzerland doing the bridge professional.
He graduated from high school Pedro Variela of his native city and now lives in Zurich with his girl friend, the well-known bridge player Irene Saesseli.
Since 1997 Swiss national's has earned his best international result with the Bermuda Bowl 2022 an the Reisinger.
In 2017 he also won the trophy Maria Erhart who rewards the best participant and is offered by 2012 by the husband of Maria, Peter. The tournament is a classic empire of the Swiss circuit that saw its first edition in 1941 for the will of Count Gianfranco Fabbricotti-Roosvelt and arrived at its 70th edition.
In 2023 he has been the non-playing captain of Switzerland teams winning of the Bermuda Bowl and in 2024 he won the European Winter Transnational.
