Susan J. Picus è nata nel 1948 nel Wisconsin e si è laureata due volte alle Università di New York e del Wisconsin. Sposata e divorziata da Ron Andersen, si è risposata con il campione Barry Rigal.
Trasferitasi a Manhattan ha fatto la consulente informatica ed è stata una Women's World Grand Master che, negli anni a cavallo tra i due millenni, è anche stata una delle migliori giocatrici americane.
Sul piano nazionale ha vinto numerosi titoli nazionali e regionali sia in campo femminile che nel misto, su quello internazionale, ricordiamo tra le sue vittorie più prestigiose, la tripletta nella Venice Cup (1991, 1993 e 2003), la Mc Connell Cup del 1994 nonché l'argento nella Venice del 1995.
Nel 2008 a guidato come capitano non giocatore le Ladies americane alla conquista del bronzo Olimpico e nel 2013 a quella della Venice Cup.
È stata anche una appassionata di teatro e si dilettava sia con il sudoku che con il kakoru.
È scomparsa il 17 novembre del 2021 dopo una lunga coraggiosa battaglia combattuta contro il cancro.
Susan J. Picus was born in 1948 in Wisconsin and graduated
twice from New York and Wisconsin Universities.
She married and divorced from Ron Andersen and remarried to champion Barry Rigal.
She moved to Manhattan and she was a computer consultant and was a Women's World Grand Master who, in the years between the two millennia, was also one of the best American players.
On the national level she has won numerous national and regional titles both in the women's and mixed fields, on the international one, we remember among her most prestigious victories, the hat-trick in the Venice Cup (1991, 1993 and 2003), the Mc Connell Cup in 1994 as well as silver in Venice in 1995.
In 2008 she led the American Ladies as a non-player captain to the Olympic bronze and in 2013 to that of the Venice Cup.
She was also a theater enthusiast and she dabbled in both sudoku and kakoru.
She went missing on November 17, 2021 after the hard battle with the cancer.
