Sten  BJERTNES

 Sten è nato il 22 agosto del 1952 a Kongsberg una cittadina circa 80 Km ad Ovest di Oslo dove oggi vive.

 Insegnante, trainer di una Squadra di volley, dopo essere stato un esperto di scacchi si è appassionato al bridge ed ha messo a buon frutto la sua esperienza di gestione di un Team, impegnandosi come Capitano non Giocatore di diverse Squadre norvegesi.

 In particolare ha diretto il team norvegese giovanile dal 1993 al 1999 ed in questa veste ha conquistato l'argento nel 1994 agli Europei a Squadre Under 20, l'oro nel 1996 agli Europei Under 25 e l'argento ai Mondiali a Squadre Juniores del 1997.

 Come coach della Nazionale maggiore ha vinto l'oro nella Bermuda Bowl del 2007, il bronzo alle Olimpiadi del 2008 e l'oro ai Campionati Europei a Squadre del 2018. È anche stato il coach della squadra che ha vinto il bronzo nella Bermuda Bowl del 2019.

Oggi vive a Oslo e lavora a tempo pieno come impiegato della Federazione Norvegese.

Sten was born in 1952 in Kongsberg a small town about 80 km west of Oslo, professional teacher and trainer of a volleyball team, after being an expert is fond of chess, he put to good use his former experiences in managing a Bridge team, working as non-playing captain of several teams in Norway.

In particular, he directed the Norwegian youth team since 1993 to 1999 and in this capacity he won the silver in 1994 at the European Team Under-20, the gold in 1996 at the European Teams  Under-25 and the Silver at the 1997 Junior World Team Championships.

As coach of the senior team won gold in the Bermuda Bowl (2007), the bronze at the 2008 Olympiads and the gold at the European Teams Championships.

He was also the coach of the bronze-winning team in the 2019 Bermuda Bowl.

He lives in Oslo and works as a full time employee of the Norwegian Federation.
