 Karl  ROHAN

 

 Karl nato nel 1934 e, prima di spegnersi  nella sua casa di Salisburgo il 28 ottobre del 2008,  stato per mezzo secolo  una delle figure pi rappresentative del bridge austriaco.

 Sposato con una figlia, come amministratore stato Presidente della Federazione Austriaca dal 1984 al 1995, nel Consiglio WBF dal 1987 al 1994 e Segretario Onorario della WBF dal 1992 al 1994.

 Come giocatore era un World Life Master che ha saputo vincere la medaglia d'argento nella Bermuda Bowl del 1985 e il Campionato Europeo a Squadre Open dello stesso anno, il bronzo nei Campionati Europei a Coppie Seniores del 1991 e del 1995, il bronzo nei Campionati Mondiali a Coppie Seniores del 1990 e tre volte consecutive l'oro nei Campionati Mondiali a Squadre Seniores Transnazionali (1990, 1994, 1998). 

Nel 1989 stato onorato con la medaglia d'argento EBL come riconoscimento dei suoi meriti straordinari nella promozione del bridge.

Karl Rohan of Austria (1934 - 2008) who is retiring in 1995, was first elected to the EBL Executive Committee in 1984, and soon became EBL Treasurer.

Since then he has taken care of the Leagues finances in a way that has attracted nothing but words of praise from all sides.

In addition to his work as Treasurer, Karl Rohan was very active in the field of Systems.

He served as the first Chairman of the EBL Systems Committee which developed the EBL Systems Policy - the first of its kind worldwide.

Shortly after, the World Bridge Federation followed a similar course, and today champion players have come to expect the policy as a standard service.

He is an active player of international status. He was a member of the Austrian team which won the European Championship in 1985. He won the silver medal in the World Senior Pairs in Geneva 1990 and the gold medal in the World Senior Teams in Albuquerque 1994.

He was honored with the Silver Medal of the European Bridge League. The EBL Medals is the Leagues highest distinction. It is given to persons who have offered extraordinary services to the world of bridge.
