John CARRUTHERS  &  Katie THORPE

 Nato nel 1947 in Gran Bretagna ma residente a Toronto e cittadino canadese, ricercatore chimico ed esperto di informatica, John si è laureato alla Mount Allison University.

 Scrittore, appassionato di golf, di equitazione, di musica e di viaggi, è stato editore dell'Ontario Kibtzer ed ha collaborato come articolista per molte delle principali riviste federali del mondo.

 Come giocatore John ha rappresentato il Canada in 5 Campionati Mondiali ed ha conquistato diversi titoli nazionali e nord americani. Tra quelli internazionali ricordiamo il Forbo International Teams del 2000 ed il Forbo Nation Cup del 2001.

 John è anche stato capitano non giocatore di rappresentative nazionali che hanno riportato importanti affermazioni in campo internazionale.

 Negli ultimi quarant'anni ha vissuto con Kathie Thorpe, una World Life Master canadese di caratura internazionale che ha conquistato la medaglia di bronzo nelle Olimpiadi del 1988 e quella d'argento in quelle del 2000, nonché il bronzo nella Venice Cup del 1989.

John Carruthers and Katie Thorpe live in Toronto with their four cats Justine, Balthazar, Mountolive and Clea.

They have lived together for more 35 years and have been playing bridge longer than that.

JC has represented Canada in World Championships on several occasions as a player and as a Non-Playing Captain.

Katie has won medals in both the Olympiad and Venice Cup as a player for Canada.

JC is currently the Editor of the International Bridge Press Association Bulletin and the Ontario Kibitzer.

He is also the Conductor of Marks & Comments, a bidding forum in Bridge magazine of the UK and is writing the Senior Bowl portion of the 2008 World Championship book.

Katie is still gainfully employed by Dominion of Canada Insurance Company, with no retirement date in sight as she needs to support JC in the style to which he has become accustomed.
