Nata a Napoli nel 1934, Lucia D'Andrea Capodanno è una delle uniche tre bridgiste italiane ad aver guadagnato il titolo di Women World Grand Master della WBF (le altre due sono la sorella Marisa D'Andrea e Marisa Bianchi).
Lucia ha vinto le Olimpiadi Ladies di Montecarlo ed è arrivata seconda alle successive di Valkenburg, ha anche conquistato una medaglia d'argento ed una di bronzo nella Venice Cup.
Sul piano continentale ha conquistato 2 Campionati Europei Ladies e ha anche conseguito diversi altri piazzamenti nelle varie manifestazioni europee tra i quali ricordiamo 2 argenti e 3 bronzi nei Campionati del MEC a Squadre Femminili ed un bronzo in quelli a Squadre Miste.
Sul piano nazionale ha vinto numerosi Campionati tra i quali ricordiamo 8 titoli a Squadre Femminili tutti in difesa dei colori di Milano.

only three Italian bridge players to have won the title of Women's World Grand

Lucia won the Olympics Ladies Monte Carlo and finished second to subsequent Valkenburg, also won a silver medal and one bronze medal in the Venice Cup.
On the old continent has won two European Ladies Teams Championships and also received several other placings in the various European events among which 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals in the women's team at MEC Championships and a bronze in Mixed Teams.
In Italy has won numerous national championships among which 8 titles always to defend the colors of Milan.
