Carla  ARNOLDS & Jan e Sandra  KOLEN

 

 Carla Arnolds è nata a Eindhoven in Olanda il 23 ottobre del 1960 ed è una famosa insegnante oltre che un’articolista, un organizzatrice di viaggi ed una Grand Master sia della EBL che della WBF.

 Dopo essersi maturata al Liceo Putt di Eindhoven si è iscritta all’Università della stessa città, dove ha cominciato a giocare a bridge nel 1981, diventando ben presto una delle più forti giocatrici del mondo.

 Sposata con Jan Kolen, anche lui un buon giocatore che alcune volte ha guidato le squadre dei ragazzi olandesi, vivono a Tilburg con i loro 4 figli (Martijn, Astrid, Sandra e Ingrid) la cui cura ha comportato l'allontanamento di Carla dalle scene bridgistiche per qualche anno.

 Quando Carla è rientrata nell'agone internazionale, puntualmente ha subito infilato una serie di significativi successi.

 Oggi la si può trovare spesso al Brabant Bridge nello Sportcafé Blaak di Tilburg, dove gioca e lavora come insegnante.

 La Arnolds ha vinto l'argento nella Venice Cup del 1989 ed il bronzo in quelle del 2003, 2005, 2011 e 2013, i Campionati Mondiali a Coppie Femminili  del 1994 e del 2007, gli Europei a Coppie Femminili  del 1993, 2007e 2011, il  Campionato Europeo per Squadre Femminili nel 2007 preceduto dagli argenti nel 1989, nel 2004 e nel 2006 e dal bronzo nel 1991.

Carla ha anche guadagnato l'argento nella Mc Connell Cup del 2010, l'oro nell'Europeo Transnazionale a Coppie Signore del 2007, il bronzo nel Campionato Europeo a Squadre Miste del 1992 e nel Mondiale a Coppie Femminili del 2010.

Nel 2014 guadagna il bronzo ai Campionati Europei a Squadre Femminili, mentre, nel 2016 guadagna l'argento nell'Individuale agli IMSA Elite Mind Games e nel 2017 il bronzo agli Europei Open.

Seguendo le orme genitoriali, Sandra Kolen, dopo aver vinto i Campionati Europei Ragazze del 2017, ha esordito in quelli Femminili del 2018 giocando in coppia con la madre mentre ha conquistato un bronzo nello stesso anno nel Campionati Transnazionali Europei per Coppie Giovanili e altri due bronzi nel 2019 nei Campionati Europei Transnazionali Femminili ed in quelli Femminili U26.

Sandra, che è nata a Goirle e ha frequentato l'Università di Tilburg, oggi studia presso l'Università Tecnica di Eindhoven.

Carla Arnolds was born in Eindhoven in the Netherlands on October 23, 1960 and is a famous teacher as well as an articulator, a travel organizer and a Grand Master of both the EBL and the WBF.

After maturing at the Liceo Putt in Eindhoven, she enrolled at the University of the same city, where she started playing bridge in 1981, soon becoming one of the strongest players in the world.

Married to Jan Kolen, also a good player who sometimes led the teams of the Dutch boys, live in Tilburg with their 4 children (Martijn, Astrid, Sandra and Ingrid) whose care involved the removal of Carla from the bridge scenes for a few years.

When Carla returned to the international scene, she promptly went through a series of significant successes.

Today it can often be found at the Brabant Bridge in the Sportcafé Blaak in Tilburg, where he plays and works as a teacher.

Arnolds won the silver in the Venice Cup in 1989 and the bronze in those of 2003, 2005, 2011 and 2013, the World Championships in Women Pairs in 1994 and 2007, the European Championships in Women's Pairs in 1993, 2007 and 2011, the European Championship for Women's Teams in 2007 preceded by silver in 1989, 2004 and 2006 and bronze in 1991.

Carla also earned silver in the 2010 Mc Connell Cup, gold in the 2007 Women Transnational European Championships, bronze in the European Mixed Team Championships in 1992 and the Women's World Cup in 2010.

In 2014 he won the bronze at the European Women's Team Championships, while in 2016 he gained the silver in the Individual at the IMSA Elite Mind Games and in 2017 a bronze at the European Open.

Following in her parents' footsteps, Sandra Kolen, after winning the 2017 European Girls Championships, made her debut in the 2018 Women's Championships playing as a couple with her mother while winning a bronze in the same year in the European Transnational Championships for Youth Couples and two other bronzes. in 2019 in the Women's Transnational European Championships and in the U26 Women's Championships.

Sandra, who was born in Goirle and attended the University of Tilburg, is now studying at the Technical University of Eindhoven.
