Philippe Raymonde Vanhoutte è nato a Lille il 29 luglio 1949 ed è un ex insegnante in pensione che ha vissuto nei pressi di Angers prima a Saint-Georges-des-Sept-Voies e poi a Doue La-Fontaine-et-Loire.

 Sposato con Françoise Vanhoutte, anche lei ottima giocatrice, come molti altri bridgisti, Philippe si è messo in luce nella categoria seniores dopo che, con il pensionamento, ha avuto più tempo per dedicarsi al suo hobby.

  World Life Senior, nel 2006 ha conquistato il suo primo alloro internazionale guadagnando un bronzo nel Campionato Europeo Seniores a Squadre a cui ha poi fatto seguire l'oro nel 2012.

 Con la squadra senior francese ha vinto il bronzo nell'Olimpiade 2012 .

Sempre nella categoria seniores ha vinto il Transnazionale Europeo nel 2011 dopo aver guadagnato l'argento nel 2007, un altro argento lo ha conquistato nei  Campionati Europei a Coppie  nel 2009 dopo aver vinto l'edizione precedente del 2007, ed infine, è salito sul tetto del mondo vincendo la Coppa D'Orsi nel 2011.

Philippe è scomparso il 23 febbraio del 2016 a Doue La-Fontaine-et-Loire.

Married to Françoise Vanhoutte, who is also an excellent player, like many other bridge players, Philippe made a name for himself in the senior category after having had more time to pursue his hobby with retirement.

World Life Senior, in 2006 he won his first international laurel, earning a bronze in the European Senior Team Championship which he then followed up with gold in 2012.

With the French senior team he won bronze in the 2012 Olympics.

Still in the senior category he won the European Transnational in 2011 after earning silver in 2007, another silver he won in the European Pairs Championships in 2009 after winning the previous edition in 2007, and finally, he went to the roof of the world by winning the Bear Cup in 2011.

Philippe passed away on February 23, 2016 in Doue La-Fontaine-et-Loire.
