PO Sundelin è nato nel 1937 a Gävle una cittadina 170Km a Nord di Stoccolma dove si è laureato presso la Stockholm School of Economics.

 Vive a Stoccolma dove ha lavorato come consulente e analista nel settore dell'informatica.

 Per Olof è stato una delle più eminenti figure del bridge svedese ed è molto noto anche in Italia per la sua collaborazione con Bridge d'Italia, che è solo una delle tante che cura da anni per le migliori riviste di vari Paesi. 

 Al di fuori del Bridge PO, che è un amante del cibo tailandese, era uso tenersi in forma giocando a squash.

 Vincitore di molte competizioni sia nazionali che internazionali, Sundelin si è messo in particolare luce sul piano internazionale grazie al 3° posto conquistato con la rappresentativa del suo Paese alle Bermuda Bowl nel 1977 a Manila, nel 1987 a Ocho Rios in Giamaica e nel 1991 a Yokohama in Giappone. Ha anche conquistato una medaglia di bronzo alle Olimpiadi di Venezia nel 1988.

 Sempre con la rappresentativa scandinava Olof ha vinto i Campionati Europei  di Elsinore nel 1977 e quelli di Brighton dieci anni più tardi, si è piazzato secondo a quelli di Killarney nel 1991 e a quelli di Malmoe nel 2004, ed infine, ha anche guadagnato un bronzo in quelli di Turku nel 1989.

Ha conquistato il titolo di  World Life Master e si è anche dimostrato un brillante commentatore in vugraph.

Due volte vincitore del Sunday Times Invitational Pairs nel 1978 e nel 1981 e del Nordic Teams Championship nel 1984 (unica sua partecipazione all'evento), ha anche preso un paio di titoli sul circuito nord americano.

Ha allenato e diretto diversi team nazionali ma mai quello del suo Paese.

PO è stato sposato con Jill Melström, anche lei bridgista che ha fatto più volte parte della rappresentativa nazionale del suo Paese, e con la quale ha avuto tre figli. Jill si è sempre barcamenata con successo tra la famiglia, il Bridge, il suo allevamento di cani e gatti poco fuori città ed una sua ditta di consulenza informatica.

Oggi sono separati e Jill vive a Solna una cittadina poco distante dalla capitale.

Per Olof Sundelin as PO (or, more formally, P.O. or Peo) has been around since September 29, 1937, when he was born in Gävle, a small town 65 miles north of Stockholm.

Some years after his birth, PO graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics and when he works these days, he is a self-employed trouble-shooting computer consultant.

A WBF World Life Master, PO played in his first European Championship in 1963, and has been competing at the highest level ever since.

Over the years, he has also built a substantial collection of Bronze medals. He has four times finished third in World Championship events - the 1988 Olympiad and the Bermuda Bowls in 1977, 1987 and 1991. He has a complete collection of European Teams Championship medals, having won in 1977 and 1987, finished second in 1991, and third in 1989.

He has twice won the Sunday Times Invitational Pairs (which became the Macallan), in 1978 and 1981, playing with Tjolpe Flodqvist. He has two North American titles to his credit, the more notable one being the 1984 Life Masters Pairs playing with the late Peter Pender.

He also won the Nordic Teams Championship (in 1984) on the only occasion he competed in the event. PO’s only hobby is bridge, which tells you a little bit about how strange he is. When pressed, however, he admitted that he gets regular exercise on the squash court, and he also confessed an affinity for Thai food, while adding that he was a hopeless cook.

Although PO is interested in all aspects of the game (he is a member of the WBF Systems Committee and enjoys theoretical systemic discussions), he is perhaps best known for his card play.

In his prime, he was widely referred to as “PO the technician.” The danger in such a  flattering label is that no technician is always in his prime, but PO is still a superb analyst.

He lives in Stockholm. His wife, Jill Mellström, who has also played for Sweden several times, spends most of her time at her boxer kennel outside the city, where she also breeds Holy Birma cats (which PO says he's told are not Burmese). She also produces user documentation for computer systems, writes textbooks on PC programs, and teaches.

PO and Jill have three sons.
