Robert D. Sundby è nato il 21 ottobre del 1925 a Dunkirk una cittadina nel Wisconsin circa 40Km a sud di Madison ed è morto il 12 dicembre del 1997.
Laureatosi all'Università del Wisconsin in Legge dove più tardi ha insegnato, ha servito in marina durante la seconda guerra mondiale.
Sposato con Analee Grove hanno avuto 4 figli.
Procuratore legale a Madison e a Evansville ha fatto parte della Corte d'Appello del Wisconsin dal 1986 al 1996.
Molto dedito alla protezione dell'infanzia, Robert è stato un ottimo bridgista e golfista e ha anche scritto due libri di bridge: "Breakthrough in Bridge" e "Bridge in the 80s".
Robert D. Sundby was a Judge of the Wisconsin Court of
Appeals.
A native of Dunkirk, Wisconsin, Sundby graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was later a member of the faculty, and served in the Navy as an Ensign during World War II.
Sundby was married to Analee Grove-Sundby. Sundby had four children: Mike, Dana, Scott, and Debby. His grandchildren include: Jeremy, Kyle, Natasha, Madison, Makenzie, Chad, Damien, Shane, and Katelynn.
He died in 1997.
As general counsel for the League of Wisconsin Municipalities throughout the 1950s, he gained expertise in municipal law and drafted much related legislation. After serving as partner of a private law firm, Sundby was City Attorney of Monona, Wisconsin from 1970 to 1981, and additionally of Evansville, Wisconsin from 1975 to 1985. He joined the Court of Appeals in 1986 and would retire in 1996.
His civic activities focused on young people. He was a past president and honorary board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dane County, and he was involved in a program called Wisconsin Cares that offers early help for abused and neglected children.
An ardent bridge player, he achieved the rank of Life Master and wrote two books on the subject of bridge. Soon after retiring he traveled to Greece to empathize and kibitz at an international bridge tournament.
He was an avid golfer as well
and also enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada.
