Cominciò a vincere i Campionati Italiani a Squadre Miste e a Squadre Libere nel 1983, per poi ripetersi in questi ultimi nel 1985 anno in cui vinse anche la sua prima Coppa Italia.

 Membro fisso della Squadra Lavazza, vinse ancora i Campionati a Squadre Libere nel 1988, nel 1991 e nel 1996 e la Coppa Italia nel 1991, 1992 e ne l 1997.

 Più volte membro della nazionale azzurra, vinse l'argento nei Campionati Europei a Squadre Miste del 1992 dopo aver guadagnato il bronzo l'anno precedente.

 Specialista del Misto vinse anche molte medaglie ai Campionati del MEC: oro nel 1983, argento nel 1987, 1991 e bronzo nel 1989.

Tra gli altri successi internazionali ricordiamo anche il Patton di Biarritz nel 1996.

 Il male dei nostri tempi lo portò via prematuramente nel dicembre del 1997.

  Italo Santià, "Ragio" to his friends, was born in Biella in 1922 but has since moved to Turin where he was one of the most successful post-war Italian players.

He began to win the Italian Mixed Teams Championships  and the Italian Open Teams in 1983, then again in 1985 in the last year in which he also won his first Italy Cup.

Permanent member of Team Lavazza, still won the Italian Open Teams Championships in 1988, 1991 and 1996 and the Italy Cup in 1991, 1992 and the 1997 will.

Several times member of the national team, won silver in the European Mixed Teams Championships in  in 1992 after earning the bronze in the previous year.

Mixed specialist also won many medals at the EC Open Teams Championships: gold in 1983, silver in 1987, 1991 and bronze in 1989.

His other credits include the international Patton Biarritz in 1996.

The evil of our times carried him off prematurely in December 1997.
