 Liz McGOWAN

 

 Elizabeth McGowan è nata il 28 aprile 1945 a Bathgate in Scozia ed ha studiato presso la locale Academy prima di laurearsi presso l'Università di Edimburgo, lavora da molto tempo presso la Federazione Scozzese ed è una delle migliori giocatrici britanniche in attività.

 Liz che era la più piccola della famiglia ha cominciato a giocare in quanto veniva spesso chiamata a chiudere il tavolo familiare, oggi  vive ad Edimburgo dove frequenta sia il Melville Bridge Club che il Carlton Bridge Club ed è una World Women Grand Master il cui ricco palmares internazionale si è cominciato a riempire negli anni '80.

 Sposata con due figlie, quando ancora non esisteva la Federazione Scozzese, Liz è stata la prima scozzese a far parte della Nazionale britannica.

 Ha iniziato conquistando l'argento alle Olimpiadi Femminili a Squadre del 1988, poi bissato in quelle del 1992. Nel 1996 ha vinto il World Transnational Mixed Teams e nel 1997 e 1999 si è fregiata del titolo di Campionessa d'Europa a Squadre oltre ad aver vinto il MEC a Squadre Femminili nel 1993 ed ha guadagnato un bronzo ai Transnazionali Europei a Squadre Femminili del 2003. 35 volte presente nel Camrose lo ha vinto 10 volte.

Nel 2022 è stata insignita della British Empire Medal per i servizi resi nel gioco del bridge e nel 2023 è stata nominata nella EBL Hall of Fame.

  Elizabeth McGowan was born on April 28, 1945 in Bathgate in Scotland and studied at the local Academy before graduating from the University of Edinburgh, has worked for a long time with the Scottish Federation and is one of the best British players in business.

Liz who was the youngest of the family began to play as she was often called to close the family table, today she lives in Edinburgh where she attends both the Melville Bridge Club and the Carlton Bridge Club and is a World Women Grand Master whose rich palmares international it began to fill in the 80s.

Married with two daughters, when the Scottish Federation did not yet exist, Liz was the first Scotsman to be part of the British national team.

She began by winning silver at the 1988 Women's Team Olympics, then repeated in those of 1992. In 1996 she won the World Transnational Mixed Teams and in 1997 and 1999 she boasted the title of European Team Champion as well as having won the MEC in Women's Teams in 1993 and earned a bronze at the Transnational European Women's Teams in 2003.

35 times present in the Camrose she won it 10 times.

In 2022 she was awarded the British Empire Medal for services rendered in the game of bridge and in 2023 she was inducted into the EBL Hall of Fame.
