John Mc Gregor è nato ad Halifax il 18 ottobre del 1949 e lì ha studiato, prima presso la Queen Elisabeth, poi presso la Dalhousie University . Dopo gli studi ha lavorato presso la Maritime Computers Ltd prima di trasferirsi in centro America.
Sposato con Patricia Gordon, oggi vivono a San José in Costarica con i loro sette figli.
John, che ha fatto parte alcune volte della nazionale costaricense, ha vinto alcuni titoli centro americani ed è anche stato coach della nazionale giovanile del Costarica nel 2008.
Infine, John è anche direttore di torneo internazionale.

Married to Patricia Gordon, today they live in San José in Costa Rica with their seven children.
John, who has been part of the Costa Rican team a few times, has won some CAC titles and was also coach of the national youth team of Costa Rica in 2008.
At least, John is also director of international
tournament.
