Kalin Karaivanov è nato il 29 gennaio 1967 a Varna dove vive tuttora assieme alla moglie Nedelina.
Kalin, che ha frequentato il Ginnasio Deutsches di Sofia e l'Università di Varna, è uno dei componenti stabili della nazionale bulgara.
Kalin è salito alla ribalta internazionale nel 2007 quando ha vinto il prestigioso Jacoby ai Campionati Americani.
Nel 2009 ha conquistato la medaglia di bronzo sia nella Bermuda Bowl che nei Campionati Europei Open a Squadre. Più tardi, conquistava il bronzo anche nei Transnazionali Mondiali a Squadre del 2000 e nella Champion Cup del 2001.
Nel 2012 ha fatto parte della Squadra Europea che ha disputato la Warren Buffett Cup.

In 2009 he won the bronze medal in both the Bermuda Bowl and the European Championships Open Team. Later, he conquered the bronze also in the 2000 Transnational World Team and in 2001 Cup Champion.
In 2012 he was part of the team that has played in the European Team during the Warren Buffett Cup.
