Sammy  FRY

Nato a New York city il 1 febbraio del 1909 è stato il segretario del celebre Regency Whist Club ed una delle personalità maggiori del bridge statunitense della prima metà del secolo scorso.

 Non appena laureato alla Columbia University nel 1928, si dedicò completamente al Bridge.

 Sposato con Camilla, hanno avuto un solo figlio, Robert.

 Fry ha rappresentato gli USA nella Bermuda Bowl del 1959 conquistando la medaglia d'argento e a soli 26 anni era già un Life Master, egli  è stato anche uno scrittore di alcuni libri di successo ed ha contribuito per oltre trenta anni al successo di The Bridge World nonché alla stesura della Bridge Encyclopedia.

 Come giocatore ha anche conquistato 6 NABC tra cui  3 Spingold ed una Vanderbilt.

 Nel 2002 ad 11 anni dalla sua scomparsa avvenuta il 28 giugno 1991, la ACBL lo ha eletto nella Hall of Fame dei bridgisti americani.

  Born in New York city on February 1, 1909 was the secretary of the famous Regency Whist Club and one of the major personalities of the bridge U.S. in the first half of the last century.

Just graduated from Columbia University in 1928, he devoted himself completely to the Bridge.

Fry has represented the U.S. in the Bermuda Bowl in 1959 by winning the silver medal at the age of 26 and was already a Life Master, he was also a writer of several books on success and has contributed for over thirty at the success of The Bridge World as well as the drafting of the Bridge Encyclopedia.

As a player he also won 6 NABCamong which three Spingold and one Vanderbilt.

In 2002 at age 11 after his death on 28 June 1991, ACBL has elected him into the Hall of Fame of the American bridge players.
