Caterina  FERLAZZO

 Caterina Valentina Lumia in Ferlazzo è nata a Taormina nel 1949 ed è una World International Master ed un una Italian Grand Master che ha da sempre giocato in coppia con la sua grande amica siciliana Gabriella Manara.

 Dopo aver studiato al Liceo Classico Maurolico di Messina si è laureata nel 1973 presso  l'Università della stessa città.

 Con la nazionale azzurra ha partecipato a diversi Campionati Europei avendo particolare fortuna in territorio francese dove ha riportato la medaglia di bronzo del Campionato Femminile a Squadre nel 1993 per poi, dieci anni più tardi, tornare a salire sul podio più alto a Mentone e nel 2008 conquistare anche l'argento a Pau.

 Sempre in campo internazionale Caterina ha conquistato la seconda piazza nello Squadre Femminili del MEC nel 1993 e la terza in quello del 1998, mentre, nel 2009 e nel 2013 ha agguantato il bronzo agli Europei Transnazionali a Squadre.

 In campo nazionale ha riportato numerosi successi di prestigio tra i quali tre vittorie nella Coppa Italia Women (2000, 2001 e 2012), 3 nello Squadre Miste (1981, 1986,  1999), 6 volte il Campionato a Squadre Femminili (1996, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2017) ed una volta il Campionato a Coppie Femminili (2021).

 Caterina Ferlazzo Lumia was born in Taormina in 1949 and she is a World Master and an Italian Grand Master who has always played in tandem with his great Sicilian friend Gabriella Manara.

With the national team has participated in several European championships with particular luck in France, where he reported the bronze medal in the Women Teams Championships in 1993 and then, ten years later, return to the podium highest in Menton in 2008 and conquer silver in Pau.

Also in the international arena Catherine also won second place teams in the MEC Women Teams in 1993 and third in the 1998 and in 2009 and 2013 has grabbed the bronze at the European Transnational Teams.

On a National reputation has brought many successes, including two victories in the Women Italy Cup (2000, 2001 and 2012), 3 in the Mixed Teams (1981, 1986, 1999), 6 in  the Women Teams Championships (1996, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2017) and the Women Pairs Championships (2021).
