Elizabeth Lea Carpenter Du Pont è nata a Wilmington nello stato del Delaware nel 1939 ma ha vissuto a lungo in Italia prendendo la residenza a Roma per poi tornare a vivere negli Stati Uniti per metà dell'anno a Palm Beach in Florida e per l'altra metà a Rockland nel Delaware.
Dopo aver vinto parecchio tornei regionali negli Stati Uniti, ha fatto parte della Nazionale azzurra conquistando un bronzo agli Europei a Squadre Femminili nel 1985 e l'oro ai Campionati a Squadre Miste del MEC nel 1983 giocando in coppia con il campionissimo Garozzo, suo partner abituale nelle manifestazioni miste e suo compagno di vita per oltre trenta anni.
Con il grande Benito ha anche vinto l'argento nei Mondiali a Coppie Seniores del 1998.
Ha fatto parte della nazionale azzurra che ha partecipato alle Olimpiadi di Seattle nel 1984.
Sul piano nazionale ha vinto in Italia due Campionati Femminili a Squadre giocando per i colori meneghini e la Coppa Italia femminile per quelli di Torino, mentre, negli USA ha vinto due NABC.
È scomparsa il 6 aprile del 2012.
Lea C. Du Pont was born in
Wilmington in the state of Delaware in 1939 but has long lived in Italy,
taking up residence in Rome before returning to live in the United
States in Palm Beach.
After winning several regional tournaments in the United States was part of the national team winning a bronze at the European Women Team in 1985 and gold at the Championships in Mixed Teams of EC in 1983, playing in tandem with the champion Garozzo, her regular partner in mixed events and her life partner for over thirty years.
With the great Benito also won silver in the World Senior Pairs in 1998.
She was part of the national team who participated at the Olympic Games in Seattle in 1984.
At the national level has won two Women Team Championships playing for Milan colors and the Italian Women Cup playing for Turin colors in Italy and two NABC's in USA.
She disappeared in the spring of 2012.
