Darren è nato a
Joannesburg nel 1975 ma vive praticamente da sempre a Toronto, dove la sua
famiglia si è trasferita quando lui aveva solo due anni e dove lavora come
broker azionario. Wolpert che è
un World Master, è il figlio del famoso insegnante canadese Hazel
e nel circuito open il
suo miglior risultato è costituito dalla
piazza d'onore nella NEC Cup del
2002, traguardo conquistato in coppia con il suo partner abituale
Jurek Czyzowicz. Suo fratello
Gavin
è anche lui un noto bridgista e pokerista canadese.
