Umberto  BARSOTTI

 

 Umberto Barsotti è nato a Roma nel 1915 ed è stato Vice Presidente della FIGB e Presidente dell'Associazione Romana Bridge.

 Sposato con Lucia, è stato l'instancabile promotore del bridge romano ai tempi del leggendario Vecchio Blue Team.

 Da giocatore ha vinto la Coppia Italia nel 1954.

 É stato capitano non giocatore di molte Squadre Azzurre e, in questa veste, ha vinto: le Olimpiadi del 1972, gli Europei Open a Squadre del 1971, l'argento agli Open e l'oro agli  Juniores  nei  Campionati del MEC del 1971.

 Ha giocato spesso in coppia con la moglie, anche lei un'ottima giocatrice che vinse i Campionati Femminili a Squadre tre volte consecutive negli anni tra il  '50 e il '52.

 Nel '70 vinsero insieme il Campionato Italiano a Squadre Miste.

 Morì nel 1987.

  Umberto Barsotti was born in Rome in 1915 and was FIGB Vice President and President of the Roman Bridge Association.

Married to Lucy, has been a tireless promoter of the Roman bridge at the time of the legendary Old Blue Team. How player has won the Italian Cup in 1954.

It was non-playing captain of many Italian teams and in this context, he has won: the 1972 Olympics, the 1971 European Open Teams, a silver with the Open Team and a gold with the Junior Team in 1971 MEC Championships.

He often played in tandem with his wife, who was also very good player, who won the Women's Team Championships three times in the years between '50 and '52.

In 1970 they won the Italian Mixed Teams Championship playing paired.

He died in 1987.
