Boris  SPASSKY

 

 Boris Vasilievich Spassky è nato a Leningrado (oggi San Pietroburgo) il 30 gennaio del 1937 ed è stato un celebre scacchista franco-russo che fu ininterrottamente campione del mondo del 1969 a l 1972 e 5 volte campione olimpico.

 Boris imparò a giocare all'età di 5 anni e a 18 già vince il campionato del mondo juniores divenendo Grande Maestro.

 In gioventù fu anche un eccellente atleta che correva i 100 piano in 10"4 e che si distingueva sia nel tennis che nel ping-pong.

 Boris, che è sopravvissuto a due infarti, è sempre stato uno spirito libero ed è rifuggito da qualsiasi inquadramento politico, tanto che negli anni nei quali il bridge era praticamente perseguito dal regime sovietico, si adoperò per promuoverlo quanto potette.

 Sposato tre volte ha sempre divorziato ed oggi vive da solo a Mosca.

 Dalla prima moglie Nadezda Konstantinovna Latyntceva con cui ha vissuoto solo tre anni ha avuto la figlia Tatiana. Dalla seconda moglie Larisa Zakharovna Solovyova ha avuto il figlio Vasili, ed infine, dalla terza, Marina Yurievna Shcherbachova sposata in Francia, ha avuto un altro figlio, Borsi Spassky jr.

La sorella minore Iraida Spasskaya è stata quattro volte campionessa russa di dama ed una volte è arrivata nella finale al campionato del mondo.

The younger sister Iraida Spasskaya has been a four-time Russian women's champion and has sometimes reached the final in the world championship.
