Bruce D. Gowdy č nato il 6 febbraio del 1930 ed č stato uno dei migliori giocatori canadesi capace di vincere la Spingold a 19 anni e diventare Grand Life Master ACBL a 20.
Sposato con Mia, sul piano internazionale ha conquistato un bronzo alle Olimpiadi del 1972 ed un argento ai Campionati Mondiali a Coppie Seniores del 2002.
Per i suoi meriti maturati in tutte le attivitā del bridge č stato eletto nella Hall of Fame del Bridge Canadese nel 2014.
Regolarmente attivo come commentatore e giocatore su BBO, novantenne lo si poteva trovare, di tanto in tanto, seduto al tavolo verde del suo Golf Club.
Scomparve il 13 dicembre del 2025.
Bruce D. Gowdy was born on February 6, 1930, and was one of Canada's finest
players, winning the Spingold at 19 and becoming an ACBL Grand Life Master
at 20.
Married to Mia, he won a bronze medal at the 1972 Olympics and a silver medal at the 2002 World Senior Pairs Championships.
For his achievements in all aspects of bridge, he was elected to the Canadian Bridge Hall of Fame in 2014.
A regular commentator and player on BBO, at the age of ninety, he could occasionally be found sitting at the green at his golf club.
He passed away on December 13, 2025.
