Nata nel 1957 a Geleen, una cittadina 20 Km. a Nord di Maastricht, ha studiato presso il locale Sint Michiel Lyceum e si è laureata in matematica all'Università di Amsterdam materia per la quale ha ricoperto una cattedra per quasi trent'anni.
Ine ha cominciato a giocare a Bridge a 10 anni perché i genitori, che avevano 5 figli e almeno la domenica volevano un po' di pace, gli imposero la scelta tra la scuola di Bibbia o quella di Bridge!
La sua partner favorita è stata Ellen Bakker, purtroppo scomparsa nel 2004, perché come lei stessa dice: "non era solo una buona giocatrice ma una grande amica dotata di un grande senso dell'umorismo" con il quale insegnava il modo giusto di stare al tavolo.
Durante la sua carriera bridgistica, Ine ha conquistato con Ellen la medaglia d'argento nella Venice Cup del 1989, due medaglie, una d'argento e una di bronzo, agli Europei a Squadre Femminili (1989 e 1991) e l'argento nel 1998 ai Campionati a Squadre Miste in un Team nel quale giocava anche il marito.
Inoltre ha vinto i Campionati del MEC a Coppie Femminili del 1996 con Wietske Van Zwol.
Innamoratasi dei giovani talenti Ceki, mosche bianche di una Federazione che conta solo 500 iscritti, ne è diventata la chioccia e ne ha portati un paio a vincere la prima edizione del Transnational Swiss Teams del 2009.
Ine ha sposato con entusiasmo la causa dei giovani talenti delle piccole Federazioni, alcuni bravissimi ma che non hanno la possibilità di partecipare alle grandi manifestazioni internazionali perché non possono sostenere le spese di partecipazione.
Oggi vive a Lauenstein (Osterzgebirge, Sachsen) una cittadina tedesca di poco più di 600 abitanti che si trova 45Km. a sud di Hannover, non lontana dal confine con la Cekia, il che facilita gli incontri dal vivo con i suoi pulcini che allena regolarmente via BBO.

Why bridge? As a child I had to choose a hobby since my parents wanted one
morning for themselves (get rid of their 5 kids...). Unfortunately the Sunday
mornings and that practically narrowed our options down to "Bible lessons" or
bridge. Easy choice.
I was 10 when I started these bridge lessons and I got addicted soon.
I studied mathematics in Amsterdam and was a math teacher (university level) for 28 years.
Played with many partners but my favorite is Ellen Bakker, who unfortunately died in 2004. She was not only a good player, she became my best friend and her great sense of humor still delivers me very happy and funny memories of our combined international bridge career.
The Dutch ladies team (1989 till 1998) but also Ellen and my husband (mixed) compensated for my own skills so I can proudly present a few medals which were in fact earned by my team members.
My last international match was in 1998, the European Mixed Teams in Aachen, Germany, where our mixed team ended in 2nd position.
I did not play seriously ever since (only some friendly matches) but I became a volunteer for the Czech bridge federation after having met some of their talented juniors. All volunteers since the federation just has 500 members.
I am a lot more proud of the results of my Czech juniors (world champion in 2009, in the Japan-Czech team! Winning the Butler side event in NEC in 2010 (Michal Kopecky and Milan Macura) than I ever was on my own results.
They are great, they not only accept me as their coach (though all in English, I do not speak any Czech) but we also became close friends. Of course I have to admit that some of them now play much better than I ever have but of course I only admit that secretly on this site.
So bridge will remain in my life as a hobby which gave me some successes but a lot more important: many good friends!
I now live in Germany (Lauenstein), close to the Czech border, so "my" players and I can also meet for live trainings but most of all we meet on BBO.
My only aim for the future is that the "small federations" will get more chances than they have now, they can hardly participate in international tournaments since they have to pay everything themselves which they can not afford from their wages. I have been coaching the Czech juniors since 2006 and many promises by richer federations have been made but .... So let's just hope there will be one sunny day that one of those promises ever comes true.
