Bolo  EINHORN

 

 Burech (Bolo) Einhorn nacque il 12 maggio del 1896 a Oświęcim in una città polacca circa 35 KM a sud di Katowice, ma la sua famiglia emigrò dapprima ad Anversa in Belgio e poi si trasferì definitivamente ad Amsterdam in Olanda dove fondarono una banca e dove Bolo prese la cittadinanza olandese nel 1924.

 Negli anni '30 dello scorso secolo, Bolo fu uno dei più forti giocatori del mondo e conquistò ai Campionati Europei a Squadre tre medaglie d'argento negli anni 1932, 33, 34 e due medaglie di bronzo negli anni 1936 e 38. Conquistò anche un argento ai Campionati Europei a Coppie del 1933.

 Durante l'invasione nazista, Bolo ed i suoi due fratelli Julius ed Heinrich tentarono di salvare le loro ricchezze affidandole ai loro soci non ebrei, ma i tedeschi lo scoprirono e i fratelli Einhorn vennero imprigionati.

 Dapprima, corrompendo le SS riuscirono ad avere un trattamento di relativo riguardo nel campo di Vught. Tuttavia, nel 1944 Bolo venne deportato prima nel campo di Westerbork e poi a Mauthausen.

Liberato dagli alleati, morì poco dopo a causa delle privazioni subite  nella stessa Mauthausen il 10 maggio del 1945.

 

  Burech (Bolo) Einhorn was born on May 12, 1896 in Oswiecim a Polish town about 35 km south of Katowice, but his family emigrated first to Antwerp in Belgium and then moved permanently to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where they founded a bank and where Bolo took the Dutch citizenship in 1924.

In the 30s of last century, Bolo was one of the strongest players in the world and won at European Bridge Teams Championships  three silver medals in 1932, 33, 34 and two bronze medals in the years 1936 and 38. He won also a silver medal at the European Pairs Championships of 1933.

During the Nazi invasion, Bolo and his two brothers Julius and Heinrich tried to save entrusting their wealth to their shareholders not Jews but the Germans discovered it and  Einhorn and his brothers were imprisoned.

First, by bribing the SS managed to have a treatment on this issue in the field of Vught . However, in 1944 Bolo was deported before the Westerbork camp and then to Mauthausen.

Liberated by the Allies, because of the privations suffered died shortly after in the same Mauthausen on May 10, 1945.
