Robert  DARVAS

 Robert Darvas che è nato nel 1903 a Budapest e che si è spento prematuramente nel 1957, è stato uno dei migliori ideatori di problemi di bridge a doppio morto, tanto che molte delle sue smazzate sono dei veri capisaldi della letteratura bridgistica.

 Senza dubbio è stato il miglior scrittore di bridge ungherese che ha trovato ospitalità su molte riviste specializzate anche estere.

 Insieme ad altri libri di minor successo, ha scritto in coppia con Norman De Villiers Hart un libro di bridge "Right trough the Pack" che è stato un vero e proprio best seller che nel 1992 è stato eletto da un novero di giornalisti specializzati come il terzo più bel libro di ogni tempo.

 In questa sua opera lunga 52 capitoli, ogni capitolo racconta una smazzata che vede come protagonista indiscussa ognuna delle 52 carte del mazzo.

 Robert è stato anche un valido giocatore e con il suo nome è ricordata una spettacolare manovra che sembra sia stata inscenata per la prima volta da lui durante un duplicato nel quale era presente come suo compagno Robert Stern che, descrivendola in un celebre articolo, l'ha  tramandata ai posteri con il nome di "Colpo di Robert".
