Boris  BARAN

 

  Nato il 26 aprile del 1945 a Ginevra in Svizzera. Trasferitosi a MontrealBoris Baran ha studiato presso l'Università Mc Gill di Montreal laureandosi in matematica e fisica e ha preso un master in matematica presso la Wayne State University di Detroit.

 Ha lavorato come professore associato per quasi trent'anni presso la JMSB Concordia University di Montreal, inoltre, ha maturato una breve esperienza presso la IBM Canada che gli ha permesso di maturare le conoscenze per fare il consulente software.

 Oggi è in pensione ed è un World International Master che ha vinto la medaglia d'argento nella Bermuda Bowl del 1995, la medaglia di bronzo nella Rosenblum Cup del 1990.

 Boris che ha vinto 12 campionati nazionali e diversi altri tornei internazionali, è anche un Senior Life Master che ha fatto parte più volte della nazionale canadese vincendo la Rand Cup nel 2002 e che per i suoi meriti sportivi è stato introdotto nel 2012 nella Hall of Fame del Bridge canadese.

  Boris Baran was born on April 26, 1945 in Geneva Switzerland. He graduated from McGill University in Montreal majoring in mathematics and physics, and he obtained a Master's degree in mathematics from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Now retired, Boris taught computer information systems at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business in Montreal, Canada.

A WBF World International Master, WBF Senior Life Master, and ACBL Grand Life Master, he won the World Senior Teams in 2002, was a silver medalist in the 1995 Bermuda Bowl, a bronze medalist in the 1990 Rosenblum Cup World K/O Teams, and a silver medalist in the 1992 Pan American Open Teams.

Baran has represented Canada in the World Team Olympiad in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, the Bermuda Bowl 1995, 2005, the Bermuda Senior Bowl 2007, 2009, 2011 e 2013, the Rosenblum Cup World K/O Teams 1978, 1986, 1990, 1994, and the World Open Pairs 1986, 1990.

Baran has also won 12 Canadian national championships, five North American championships, the 1997 Marlboro China Cup, the 1991 Icelandair Invitational Pairs, and the 1990 Epson World Towers competition. 

In 2012 Boris was inducted into the Canadian Bridge Federation Hall of Fame.
