Nato nel 1946 a Lee-on-Solent una cittadina rivierasca britannica di fronte all'Isola di Wight è emigrato in Canada nel 1957 vive a Toronto.
Laureato in astronomia ha iniziato a giocare a bridge quando era solo un ragazzo.
David ha sempre lavorato nel campo dell'informatica nell'ambito delle Compagnie Assicurative.
Sposato con Audrey Grant, una bridgista molto nota in Canada, collabora con lei nella scrittura di libri, programmi di bridge e articoli per riviste specializzate.
David ha vinto diversi Campionati Nazionali ed ha
fatto parte più volte della nazionale canadese.
His university degree
was in Astronomy,
preparing him perfectly
for the space cadets he
played bridge with as a
young man.
David went to work for
an Insurance Company
(Crown Life) as a
programmer (in the days
of punched cards) and
became a Business
Systems Architect.
David claims that he is
best known as “Mr.
Audrey Grant”, having
been married to Audrey
for over 30 years.
He
works with Audrey in
writing books, software,
and the Better Bridge
magazine.
David was Chairman of
the NABC in Toronto in
1986 which had over
21,000 tables (only Las
Vegas in the following
year was larger).
He
has won the Canadian
National Team
Championships in three
different decades, and
has represented Canada
in numerous
international events,
starting with the 1978
World Championships in
New Orleans.
David
was born in in 1946 in
Lee-on-Solent, England,
but emigrated to Canada
in 1957.
