Summer NABC - Open Pairs II - Wernher Trophy |
Il Wernher Trophy è stato donato nel 1934 dal baronetto Sir Derrick J. Wernher e premia i vincitori dei Campionati Nord Americani a Coppie Open Estivi L'evento ha fatto parte dei Campionati Estivi dall'anno della sua inaugurazione fino al 1962, poi, nel 1963 è stato spostato nei Campionati Primaverili dove è rimasto fino al 2003 Infine, dal 2004 è tornato a far parte dei Campionati Estivi Nel periodo dal 1958 al 1962 presso i Campionati Primaverili si disputava un evento simile per cui per un quinquennio si sono avuti dei vincitori in entrambe i Campionati (righe in marroncino) Dal 1992 questa gara prese il nome di Open Pairs II e da allora il trofeo viene assegnato dopo 4 turni di gioco, due di qualificazione e due di finale All'Open Pairs II partecipano molte delle migliori coppie open del mondo tanto che lo stesso può essere considerato a buon diritto un vero e proprio campionato mondiale a Coppie Libere |
The Wernher Trophy was donated in 1934 by Sir Derrick J. Wernher and presented to the winners of the National Men's Pairs Championships The event was contested at the Summer NABC until 1962. It moved to the Spring NABC in 1963 where it remained for 40 years. In 2004 it returned to the Summer NABC lineup. From 1969 through 1971, it was contested as a three-session championship In 1992 the event became Open Pairs II, a four session event which consists of two qualifying rounds and two finals rounds |
