Nato il 23 marzo del 1921 a Chicago, si sposò con Anna Gartner che gli diede due figli: Patrizia e Peter.

Si diplomò nel 1940 in Scienze all'Illinois College of Commerce of Chicago e servì durante la seconda guerra mondiale come segnalatore di marina.

Lavorò per la Barrett Electronics per oltre 40 anni e si pensionò nel 1983 con il grado di Vice Presidente.

Nel 1989 si trasferì con la moglie a Boulder per stare vicini alla figlia.

Scomparve il 4 febbraio del 2011 dopo essere stato un enigmista, un eccellente bridgista, un avido lettore, un appassionato golfista ed un tifoso di hockey.

He was born March 23, 1921, in Chicago, IL to Mathias Kauth and Matilda Litgen Kauth.

He married Anna Gartner on April 19, 1947 and we had been two sons: Pat and Peter.

Fran graduated in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Illinois College of Commerce in Chicago.

He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a signalman on the USS Barnwell.

Fran worked at Barrett Electronics more than 40 years, retiring in 1983 as vice president of parts and service.

In 1989 Fran and Ann moved from the Chicago area to Boulder to be near their daughter and grandchildren.

He was a punster, excellent bridge player, avid reader, and dedicated golfer as well as a fan of NHL Chicago Blackhawks hockey.
