Rita  JACOBSON

 

 Rita Nussbaum Jacobson è nata a Cape Town in Sud Africa il 3 agosto del 1911 ed è stata una fortissima bridgista nella seconda metà del secolo scorso.

 Rita, che fu sposata con Emanuel Jacobson, durante l'Apartheid fondò la Entokozweni School in una zona nera e ne fu Segretaria e Tesoriera per molti anni.

 Esperta giocatrice, fece parte numerose volte della Nazionale Sudafricana e partecipò a diverse Olimpiadi guadagnando due storici argento per il suo Paese nel 1968 e 1972. Nel 1974 guadagnò un terzo argento nel Campionato del Mondo a Coppie Femminili.

 Nel 1984 emigrò in Australia e subito divenne un personaggio di spicco del bridge dei canguri fino ad arrivare a rappresentare anche la nazionale australiana.

Rita ebbe due figli e prima di morire a Sydney in Australia il 20 marzo del 1992, ebbe tempo per divenire un amata nonna e bisnonna.

Rita Nussbaum Jacobson was born in Cape Town in South Africa on August 3, 1911 and she was a very strong bridge player in the second half of the last century.

Rita, who was married to Emanuel Jacobson, during Apartheid Entokozweni founded the School in a black area and was secretary and treasurer for many years.

Experienced bridge player, was part of the South Africa National numerous times and participated in several Olympics earning two consecutive historic silver medals for her country in 1968 and 1972. In 1974 Rita earned an other silver medal in fourth word women pairs championships.

In 1984 she emigrated to Australia and soon became a leading figure of the bridge of kangaroos until you get to represent also the Australian national.

Rita, who had two children, before died in Sydney on March 20, 1992, had time to become a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother.
