Tommy  GARVEY

 

 Donal Garvey è nato a Milstreet nel 1948 e lì ha completato gli studi primari e secondari prima di laurearsi in Statistica all'UCC di Cork.

 Donal è stato Direttore Centrale dell'Istituto di Statistica Irlandese il CSO prima di diventarne Direttore Generale.

 Come bridgista è stato un valente bridgista che ha rappresentato l'Irlanda ai Campionati del Mondo del 1972 e più tardi ha fatto coppia nella nazionale del suo Paese con il figlio Tommy.

 Donal ha avuto tre figli, Tommy, Peter e Niamh.

  Tommy Garvey è nato a Dublino ed è uno dei migliori giocatori irlandesi contemporanei.

 Attuario, si è trasferito a Londra dove ha lavorato come Senior Account presso l'AON e dove vive con la moglie Kit che gli ha dato Killian e Tristan.

 Avviato al gioco dal papà Donal, Tom ha vinto diversi titoli nel Regno Unito e alla fine è divenuto un professionista del bridge.

 Anche amante del golf, nel bridge di livello internazionale ha vinto nel 2006 una prestigiosa medaglia d'argento ai Campionati Europei a Squadre ed un bronzo ai Transazionali Mondiali Juniores a Squadre, mentre, l'anno successivo ha guadagnato un secondo posto nella White House. A livello britannico ha vinto 3 Lederer, nonché, alcuni Camrose ed una Gold Cup.

 Presente abitualmente nella nazionale del suo Paese, nel 2024 ha anche guidato come coach la nazionale inglese ai World Bridge Games.

   Donal Garvey was born in Milstreet in 1948 and completed his primary and secondary education there before graduating with a degree in Statistics from UCC in Cork.

Donal served as Central Director of the Irish Statistical Institute (CSO) before becoming its Director General.

As a bridge player, he was an accomplished player, representing Ireland at the 1972 World Championships and later partnering his son Tommy on the Irish national team.

Donal has three children: Tommy, Peter, and Niamh.

Tommy Garvey was born in Dublin and is one of Ireland's best contemporary players.

An actuary, he moved to London where he worked as a Senior Account at AON and where he lives with his wife Kit, who has given him Killian and Tristan.

Introduced to the game by his father, Donal, Tom won several titles in the UK and eventually became a professional bridge player.

Also a golf enthusiast, he won a prestigious silver medal at the 2006 European Team Championships and a bronze at the 2006 Transnational Junior Team World Championships in international bridge, while the following year he earned second place at the White House. At the British level, he has won three Lederers, as well as several Camroses and a Gold Cup.

A regular on his country's national team, he also coached the English national team at the 2024 World Bridge Games.
