"Foxy" nacque a Londra il 19 gennaio del 1914 da madre attrice e studiò a Broadstairs e a Winchester per poi laurearsi in Legge.
Dopo qualche hanno in cui lavorò come Avvocato, nel 1938 decise di dedicarsi interamente al grande amore della sua vita, quel Bridge che aveva appreso a 13 anni durante una vacanza scolastica.
Dopo aver superato il secondo conflitto mondiale operando come insegnante nella Difesa Civile, nel 1950 fondò a Londra assieme a Dolorosa Shammon quella che sarebbe diventata la più longeva e continuativa scuola di Bridge britannica: "The Mayfair Studio".
Nel 1959, dopo la morte di Guy Ramsey ottenne quel posto di reporter al "Daily Telegraph" che mantenne per 34 anni e che lo rese famoso in tutto il Regno Britannico.
George scrisse undici libri di Bridge e il dodicesimo lo dedicò alla sua autobiografia.
Nel 1968 sposò Betty Harris una giocatrice di fama internazionale che gli era di 11 anni più anziana e con lei stabilì un primato difficilmente superabile vincendo un Torneo Nazionale quando aveva 81 anni e la loro coppia ne contava 173!
Si ritirò nel 1995 con la moglie nella cittadina di Hove dove morì nel marzo del 1998.

After some years where he worked as a lawyer, in 1938 he decided to devote himself entirely to the great love of his life, he had learned the Bridge to 13 years during school holidays.
After passing the Second World War working as a teacher in the Civil Defense, he founded with Dolorosa Shammon in London in 1950 what would become the longest active school Bridge of UK: "The Mayfair Studio".
In 1959, after the death of Guy Ramsey, got the place for reporters at "Daily Telegraph" where he remained for 34 years and that made him famous throughout the British Empire.
George wrote eleven books of Bridge and a twelfth dedicated it to his autobiography.
In 1968 he married Betty Harris, a player of international fame that was 11 years oldest and she set a record hard to beat by winning a national tournament when she was 81 years, and their pair 173!
He retired in 1995 with his wife in the town of Hove where he died in 1998.
