Morris "Morrie" Elis è nato il 28 agosto del 1907 a Lauderhill in Florida e si è spento il 31 maggio del 1992 nella sua casa di Lauderhill per problemi cardiaci dopo essere stato uno dei migliori giocatori americani tra gli anni '30 e '50 dello scorso secolo.
Laureatosi nel 1928 alla New York University si dedicò al cappellificio di famiglia che aveva sede in Manhattan.
Morrie, che è anche stato un discreto giocatore di ping pong divenendo campione della città di New York nel 1932, come bridgista vinse 6 titoli nazionali tra i quali fa spicco la Vanderbilt del 1949 e, per due volte, nel 1938 e nel 1940, vinse il Mc Kenney Trophy che premia il giocatore che ogni anno raggranella più punti nei campionati nazionali.
Sua figlia Judy Tucker, fu anch'essa una bridgista di primo piano che vinse tre NABC.

century.
He graduated in 1928 at New York University is dedicated to the hat's factory own family which was based in Manhattan.
Morrie, who was also a decent table tennis player champion of the city of New York in 1932, as a bridge player won six national titles between them the Vanderbilt in 1949 and twice in 1938 and 1940 the Mc Kenney Trophy awarded to the player who scrape together every year more points in the National Championships.
His daughter, Judy Tucker, was also a leading bridge player that won three NABC.
