Nato nel 1972 ad Auckland in Nuova Zelanda, Ishmael Del Monte è figlio di un Grand Master neozelandese, ha imparato a giocare nel suo Paese di origine e, quando ha cominciato ad avere notevoli successi, si è trasferito in Australia, dove ha aperto due suoi club che si chiamano entrambi "Kings and Queens", uno a Rose Bay nell'hinterland di Sydney e l'altro a Melbourne.
Ish, che è stato sposato con Kim (foto a dx in basso) da cui ha avuto la figlia Julia, dopo la separazione da Kim ha vissuto a Double Bay nell'hinterland di Sydney assieme alla sua nuova compagna, l'americana di Miami Lisa Joss-Bernal (foto a dx in alto) prima di trasferirsi con lei a Las Vegas negli Stati Uniti nel 2013 e sposarla l'anno seguente. Con lei ha avuto un altro figlio Ben.
Oltre alla passione per il bridge, coltiva quelle per il Cricket e per il Rugby.
Ish, insegna bridge e fa parte del giro delle Nazionali dei suoi due Paesi.
Il suo primo successo internazionale risale al 1995 quando a Bali ha portato la Nuova Zelanda alla conquista della medaglia d'argento nel Campionato Mondiale Juniores a Squadre.
Vincitore di oltre 30 titoli nazionali sia in Nuova Zelanda, che in Australia, suo Paese d'adozione, ha vinto la Vanderbilt del 2012 ed altri 3 NABC guadagnandosi il titolo di World International Master.

Nel 2013 come coach ha guidato all'argento la squadra giovanile australiana nei Mondiali Transnazionali.
L'ex moglie Kim, anche lei bridgista, è australiana ed è nata a Gosford sul Brisbane Water, si è diplomata presso La Terry High School ed oggi vive con Julia a Sydney dove dirige il "Kings and Queens" locale.

Ish, who was married to Kim (bottom right photo) with whom he had daughter Julia, after separating from Kim he lived in Double Bay in the Sydney hinterland together with his new partner, the American from Miami Lisa Joss-Bernal (photo above right) before moving with her to Las Vegas in the United States in 2013 and marrying her the following year. With her he had another son Ben.
In addition to his passion for bridge, he cultivates those for Cricket and Rugby.
Ish, teaches bridge and is part of the tour of the national teams of his two countries.
His first international success dates back to 1995 when in Bali he led New Zealand to the conquest of the silver medal in the World Junior Team Championship.
Winner of over 30 national titles both in New Zealand and in Australia, his adopted country, he won the 2012 Vanderbilt and 3 other NABC earning the title of World International Master.
In 2013 as coach he led the Australian youth team to silver at the Transnational World Cup.
His ex-wife Kim, also a bridge player, is Australian and was born in Gosford on Brisbane Water, she graduated from Terry High School and now lives with Julia in Sydney where she runs the local "Kings and Queens".
