William Coyle nacque a Paisley nel 1937 ed è unanimemente considerato come il più forte giocatore scozzese mai esistito.
Insegnante di matematica ricevette un MBE per i suoi meriti maturati nell'insegnamento amministrativo.
Come giocatore fece parte alcune volte della Nazionale Britannica vincendo il bronzo alle Olimpiadi a squadre del 1976 e l'argento ai Campionati Europei Seniores a squadre del 2012 ed un bronzo ai Campionati del MEC a squadre Open del 1973.
Willie vinse anche 6 volte il Camrose, 4 volte la Gold Cup.
Scomparve a Londra il 4 agosto del 2023.
William Coyle was born in Paisley in 1937 and
is unanimously considered the greatest Scottish player ever to exist.
A mathematics teacher, he received an MBE for his merits in administrative teaching.
As a bridge player he was part of the British national team a few times, winning bronze at the 1976 Olympic team championships and silver at the 2012 European Senior Team Championships and a bronze at the 1973 MEC Open team championships.
Willie also won the Camrose 6 times, the Gold Cup 4 times.
He passed away in London on 4 August 2023.
