Si tratta di una particolare forma di compressione a tagli incrociati che si opera iniziando con un taglio dalla parte dove risiedono entrambe le minacce.

Sud gioca una cuori e la taglia al morto con la Dama di picche: Est resta senza difesa.
Se sotto taglia, Sud taglia in mano una carta dei minori e poi riscuote l'altra cuori; se scarta uno dei suoi controlli nei minori, Sud chiama dal morto la carta del corrispondente colore e, sia che Est lo tagli, sia che scarti, Sud o surtaglierą e riscuoterą la seconda cuori, o scarterą la cuori e giocherą l'altro minore surtagliando Est.
Nulla cambierebbe se le carte dei due opponenti fossero invertite:

Sud intavola una cuori ed Ovest a tre possibili scelte.
Se taglia, Sud surtaglia al morto, rientra in mano tagliando una carta dei minori e riscuote il Re di cuori.
Se scarta il Fante di quadri, Sud scarta a sua volta la quadri del morto e intavola la seconda cuori finendo a tagli incrociati.
Se scarta l'Asso di fiori, come sopra.
The
Backwash Squeeze is a trump squeeze in which both menaces are in the same
hand, and the player in the seat behind the hand with the menaces holds both
guards play a losing trump. This player is then caught in the backwash of a
squeeze by means of a ruff taken in the hand holding the menaces.

On the tenth trick, South leads the four of Hearts and ruffs it with the Queen of Spades. East is squeezed. If East underruffs, then the South hand would be high.
If East discards a Diamond or a Club, East would promote one of the cards in the Dummy which the declarer would lead, forcing East to ruff eventually and allowing South to overruff, thereby fulfilling the contract.
