Niall Toibin č nato il 24 giugno del 1959 a Enniscorthy ed ha lavorato a lungo come insegnante in Sudan e Kenia dove ha maturato una eccellente conoscenza della lingua araba.
Entrato nel 1993 nella Agenzia Cattolica Irlandese Trócaire, ha combattuto la carestia in Somalia e si č prodigato in Ruanda dopo il genocidio del 1944.
Nel 2002 č divenuto capo del Dipartimento Internazionale dell'Agenzia.
Aveva due sorelle Nuala e Bairbre e due fratelli Brendan e Colm (il noto giornalista e scrittore) e tutti giocavano a bridge pił o meno bene.
Come giocatore di Bridge ha fatto parte pił volte della nazionale irlandese vincendo i Campionati a Coppie e quelli a Squadre Juniores del MEC nel 1981. Ha anche capitanato la Squadra Nazionale agli Europei del 1997.
É prematuramente e inaspettatamente deceduto il 9 maggio del 2004.
Niall Toibin was born on 24 June 1959 in Enniscorthy
and has worked extensively as a teacher in Sudan and
Kenya, where he gained an excellent knowledge of
Arabic.
Entered in 1993 in the Irish Catholic Agency Trócaire, he has battled famine in Somalia and went a long way in Rwanda after the genocide of 1944.
In 2002 he became head of the International Department of the Agency.
He had two sisters Nuala and Bairbre and two brothers Brendan and Colm (known journalist and writer) and all they are playing Bridge.
As a Bridge player he has been repeatedly part of the Irish National winning in 1981 the EEC in Open Pairs and in Junior Teams.
He also captained the National team at Euro 1997.
He prematurely and unexpectedly died on 9 May 2004.
