Colin Smith è nato il 7 febbraio del 1927 ed è stato una giocatore di punta della nazionale gallese per oltre vent'anni.

 Colin ha studiato al Downing College di Cambridge diventando ingegnere. 

 Ha lavorato nella Monsanto, nella RTB di Newport e infine è stato lettore al Cardiff Institute of Technology.

 Ha esordito nella nazionale juniores Britannica nel 1962 ed ha partecipato più volte al Camrose con la squadra gallese che più tardi ha guidato anche come capitano non giocatore.

 Sposato con 3 figli, oltre al bridge amava molto anche il Cricket.

 É scomparso il 26 novembre del 2012.

  Colin Smith, was born 1927, 7 February and has been one half of Wales’s leading international pair for two
decades.

 The partnership with the late John Butler ran from 1963 to 1982 with over forty appearances for Wales in the Home Internationals for the Camrose Trophy. Smith also had a dozen matches as non-playing captain.

His international bridge career began in 1962 in the British Junior team partnering David Hamilton when the age limit for juniors was 35 and Britain beat Germany. Later that year Smith had his first Camrose partnering the late Barry Clowes.
