Jan Petter Sissener è nato a Oslo il 14 marzo del 1955 ed ha frequentato il ginnasio Riis per poi laurearsi in economia presso il collegio Handelshøy.

 Sposato con Helle, dopo un periodo passato alla banca Kaupthing ha creato un proprio fondo di investimento che riscontra un buon successo sul mercato locale: il Sissener Canopus.

 Ottimo giocatore, ha riportato alcuni titoli nazionali.
