Le personalità del brdige

Edward Rayne nacque nello Stato di New York il 19 agosto del 1922 da una coppia anglo americana, la madre Meta Reddish incontrò il padre Joseph Rayneche che stava studiando da cantante lirico in Italia. Joseph era l'erede di una famiglia inglese di costumisti che avevano fondato un calzaturificio che sotto la guida di Edward divenne un cult della sua epoca.

Edward studiò alla Harrow School che dovette lasciare all'età di 16 anni in quanto affetto da cateratte ad entrambi gli occhi. Un'operazione gli salvò la vista ma lo costrinse a parte delle spesse lenti per il resto della sua vita.

Alla morte del padre avvenuta nel 1952 diventò Presidente dell'avviata azienda di famiglia che era diventata una Società che faceva parte integrante del codice di abbigliamento britannico e che vendeva in larga parte del mondo.

Nel 1975 vendette l'azienda ma resto nel ramo come rinomato consulente tanto da ricevere nel 1988 il cavalierato per i servizi resi all'industria della moda inglese.

Dotato di un talento incredibile per tutti i giochi di carte, Eddie fu un imbattibile pokerista ed in gioventù entrò a far parte della Nazionale Britannica di Bridge quando aveva solo 21 anni, vincendo il Campionato d'Europa a Squadre quando ne aveva 26! e bissandolo l'anno successivo!!

La sua fine fu tragica, morì il 7 febbraio del 1992 in un incendiò che divorò la sua casa di Bexhill-on-Sea nell'East Sussex mentre, benché ferita, gli sopravvisse la moglie Morna che gli aveva dato due figli.

Edward Rayne was born in upstate New York on August 19, 1922 by a pair Anglo American, mother Meta Reddish met Father Joseph Rayneche who was studying to be an opera singer in Italy. Joseph was the heir of a family of English costume who had founded a shoe factory that under the leadership of Edward became a cult of his era.

Edward was educated at Harrow School but he had to leave at age 16 because suffering from cataracts in both eyes.

A surgery saved his sight but he was forced to part of the thick lenses for the rest of his life.

At his father's death in 1952, he became President of the family business that had become a company that was an integral part of the dress code and the British who sold a large part of the world.

In 1975 he sold the company but rest in the branch as renowned consultant so as to receive a knighthood in 1988 for services to the British fashion industry.

Equipped with an incredible talent for all card games, Eddie was unbeatable poker player and in his youth became part of the Bridge British National when he was only 21 years, winning the European Teams Championships when he was 26! and repeating the following year !!

His end was tragic, died February 7, 1992 in on fire that devoured his house in Bexhill-on-Sea (East Sussex) and, though wounded, his wife Morna survived him. They had been two children.
