George Buchanan  McCutcheon

 George Buchanan McCutcheon nacque nel 1925 nel Lancashire in Scozia e si laureò in medicina ad Aberdeen.

 Il Whist era un gioco di famiglia che apprese fin da bambino, mentre conobbe il Bridge durante l'Università che,  nella sua pur frenetica vita,  occupò sempre un posto di primo piano.

  Partecipò ad alcuni incontri della Nazionale della Scozia del Nord prima di trasferirsi verso la fine degli anni '50 con la moglie Joan e con la figlia Terry a Toowoomba nel Queensland, dove occupò una posizione nel locale ospedale psichiatrico.

 Il Bridge ne soffrì perché nella cittadina dove viveva non c'erano circoli e George poté giocare a stento un paio di volte a settimana trasferendosi ogni volta fino a Brisbane che distava 125 Km!

 Entusiasta propagatore di Bridge, George fu di fondamentale importanza nell'instaurazione del sistema dei Master Point australiani tanto che l'ABF gli ha dedicato il Trofeo che ogni anno premia il giocatore che ne ha collezionati di più.

Il secondo matrimonio con Helga avvenuto nel 1968 e un posto di responsabilità presso l'Ospedale di Ipswich, lo allontanarono dal Bridge giocato.

Quando scomparve il 12 dicembre del 2011, era rimasto solo 10 anni nel vivo del Bridge australiano, un periodo che fu però sufficiente per lasciare un ricordo indelebile.

George Buchanan McCutcheon was born in 1925 in Scotland and graduated in medicine in Aberdeen.

The Whist was a family game he learned as a child, while at the University  knew the Bridge that, even in his busy life, always occupied a prominent place.

He participated in some meetings of the National North of Scotland before moving to the late '50s with his wife Joan and daughter Terry in Toowoomba in Queensland, where he held a position in the local psychiatric hospital.

The Bridge suffered because they lived in the town where there were no clubs and George could barely play a few times a week each time moving up to Brisbane which was about 125 km!

Enthusiastic propagator of Bridge, George was of paramount importance in establishing the system of Australian Master Point so that the ABF has dedicated the trophy that annually awards the player who has collected more.

The second marriage with Helga in 1968 and a post of responsibility at the Hospital of Ipswich, loosened from the Bridge played.

He was only 10 years remained alive in the Australian Bridge but it left a unforgettable memory.

He disappeared in December 2011.
